Using Scraps - Final Thoughts

I hope you have had fun this week - and gotten a ton of inspiration when it comes to using scraps!  Today I am going to go over some of my favorite projects - and a few more things you can do with scraps!!!   Lets get started: This is probably one of my favorite layouts - because of the picture behind the layout, my grandma's dresser!  The die cuts used were from my Sizzix machine and my punches, all from my stash of scraps!  A simple layout you can do in no time, with one photo - or more!       For this layout - I simply used scraps of cardstock cut into thin strips for the border!  This is one way you can do the border with thin strips - or use larger strips if you want!  Change it up - use different colors - and try this border on a card too!!!     With the two layouts above - I used scraps for the paper piecing patterns (the flower and the books)!  Using scraps with your patterns, helps you ...

What To Do With Scraps - Day 2

Today's  post is all about using up the scraps from when I created  this project  - and  this project !  I love the papers I used - all from Stampin' Up - and love the projects completed based on the papers I used!   Supplies I used: Stampin' Up papers -  Stampin Up stamps - Four You sayings set Paper trimmer & scissors Sizzix die cuts - tags, presents, flowers (3 various styles) Punches - sun, flower (2 various styles), circle, heart  White and black ink pads One of the first things I created was a set of 4 cards, using all papers from Stampin' Up to assure they matched!  By using papers from the same paper pack when you are creating things, helps to make sure everything you create matches and is in the same color family!  This was fun to create the various styles of cards, with 4 different sayings from the Four You stamp set from Stampin' Up!  I am sad to see this set leaving our catalog - but love the new sets ...

What To Do With Scraps - Day 1

Do you throw away your scraps - or do you save them for use later on down the line?  I save mine, and have made some wonderful one of a kind items, made with the scraps of paper I have saved from other projects.  Saving scraps helps you save money - by using just a small piece of something versus a whole sheet.  Using scraps helps make your project one of a kind, especially if you only have a small piece of paper you are using!   You can use scraps with so many different products and projects, you won't throw anything away anymore!     The next few days will be about projects you can make to use up some of those scraps you have!  There are tons of things you can do with scraps - including: Card bases - not the card itself, but the base part that goes on top of the card, as well as the embellishments used on the card. Bookmarks made out of various colors of scraps, also using the scraps for the embellishments. For embellishmen...

Which came first - now my story!

Terra, Del, me and Casey at his graduation 2011       I will start by saying thank you to everyone for the continued support for Memories in Tyme.  A lot has gone on since I started this blog almost 3 years ago, of which I never thought it would go this far!  Scrapbooking and Memories kept me alive after a really horrible time in my life...so lets get started with my story!   If you missed the blog hop a few days ago, just scroll down and you will get the whole hop!  Make sure to go through and leave a comment, as one lucky winner this month will receive a free goodie pack of scrapbooking supplies!  Now on for my story... Is It Coffee Yet card      At the time I started crafting, I lived in Denver, Colorado area where I found stamping and making cards.  My very first project was my now 21 year old daughter's (pictured above)  birth announcements!  Since that first project - I have been hooked!  I went t...

Fun news - and a challenge

I started scrapbooking around 13 years ago or so, my first project - was my 2nd wedding album!  My first stamping project was my almost 21 year old daughters' birth announcements - so I've been around a while now!  I decided to start Memories in Tyme to show people how easy it is to create.   I am now certified to teach through EK Success' Spotted Canary program, as well as now teaching at Michael' s Arts & Crafts at a local Denver area store!  I am excited to say the least, and can see all my hard work starting to pay off - especially since being here in Colorado!        Now - if you are expecting something from me in the mail - I am really behind right now!  Life has just thrown me some interesting curve balls, in which I am trying to figure out how to deal with them!  I am also in school full time, plus started a new job...Life for me is just nuts, and things that needed to get done has NOT been done! ...

School album

Front cover Page 2 and 3 Page 4 and 5      It's that wonderful time of the year again, when we send our kids back to school to learn to read, write, and do arithmetic!!!  This year, make a mini album such as this one, to give to your child's teacher for them to document the school year!!! (Or just make it and keep yourself in order to document the fun times in your child's school year!!!)  It can be made with 5 sheets of paper or cardstock, ribbon to bind it, and stickers and such to decorate it all up!!    If you use easy products such as a kit you have bought that coordinates all together, this works perfectly - being able to use up much of the things included in the kit!        The basic directions for my mini albums are in this post - to make it easier for you!  I would look at the individual pages for specifics on how that page was made!   For this album, the supply list is:   20 sheets...

Spring

Spring is finally here, things are starting to turn green, the trees are starting to have buds on them that will soon turn into leaves.  The birds are back, the squirrls are always around...and in our area, we even have a family of fox that live close by!   You can tell everyone in our complex is starting to get their porches looking nice, spending more time outside is more prevalent, especially when the weather is nice and warm.   Here in Colorado, it feels warmer than it really is...even in 60 degree weather, it still feels nice and warm outside!    This layout reflects those nice spring days, where the flowers are starting to bloom and look pretty, and there might be a little cloud or two floating by!  This two page spread can be tweaked for just about anything, or simply add the title of your choice somewhere on the clouds.    Supplies used: Cardstock - 2 sheets blue cardstock for the ba...

Monthly event planner

Everyone has them, monthly events to keep track of, things like birthdays and anniversaries...  Once you are older and start to have a family of your own, how do you keep track of the events YOU have?  Here is one idea, made out of recycled file folders, one for each month!  Each of the pages are in different colors, with 2 holes punches to allow ribbon through it, or whatever you can find that would work good.   On the back of each page, is a blank page, in order to allow for names and dates for that month.  For the file folders, I cut those straight in half in order to create 2 months out of each folder.  This way, I can create my cards early, and place them in the month I need to for use later on.  So, lets get started with the supplies and directions of this fun little project!   Supplies needed:   6 file folders cut in half and the top part cut off as well 12 sheets of paper, coordinating colors 6 sheets of 8.5 x 11 cards...
Mini albums the easy way If you don't have a lot of money to spend on a traditional "album", this is Memories in Tyme's easy version of a cheap scrapbook album!  All you will need is 5 sheets of 12 x 12 paper or cardstock and also colors to match, stickers or die cuts, ribbon, buttons, or whatever!     This is page 2 and 3 of the mini album.  I used brads, and markers around the edges, and stickers matted.  The entire album was easy to create, using what was available to me.  This is page 4 and 5 of the mini album, again, using stickers on the bottom, only this time I added buttons for the middle of the flowers to create a bit of dimension.  This is side 6 and 7, so you can see the pattern of the album.  I used stickers, brads, ribbon and a button, with a bit more color around the edge with a marker.  As you put the album together, each of the 2 pages are back to back.  I use a hotglue gun to glue the pages back to back,...
Here is an easy layout idea using very little supplies, focusing more on the picture and the words written, instead of the embellishments.  Supplies used:  Brown/pink background paper White/pink cardstock 1 photo Alphabet stickers 2 different flower punches Chipboard frame For this layout, I used the chipboard frame and 2 different types of flower punches to finish up the look.  The background paper was enough "noise" so to speak, I wanted to focus on the reason of the layout and picture in the first place.  To recreate this layout, here are directions:  Step one:  Decide the photo you want to showcase for this layout.  Step two:  Choose the background paper that fits the photo, or the person you are creating the page for.  Step three:  Using alphabet stickers, create your title for the top border of the page. Matt it once with a color that matches your background paper.  Step four:  For your pho...
