Using heart die cuts - two different ways

Sometimes it's not about using the newest supplies out on the market - really, is anyone that is receiving it going to look at it and say to you, "oh, you didn't use the latest supplies" when you made that!!!  Really, it's about the reason you are making the card and sending it out in the first place.         I love using pinks and browns together, and with this card, I used an ivory card base, with the pink scraps for the base of the card.  Simple paper tearing for one of the background papers, adding the heart die cuts to finish it off.  The inside can either have a simple saying, or left blank in order to customize it to the person you are giving it to.  With this type of card, you can use just about any color for the background paper, as well as something different for the hearts as well.        With this 2 page spread, I used traditional "love" themed paper and embellishments on a not so "lov...

Simply52 Designers

Layout sketch Card sketch I love sketches because you can truly do many different things to them, and either change them around a bit or using the sketch exactly as you see it.   Simply52  designers blog gives you different ideas from different designers to show you ways you can use the sketches that are showcased!  I like to put them on the sketches side to get a totally different look to the card I am creating!  This one would be fun like that! With my idea today, I used scraps from another project I was working on for my classes at Michael's.  I hate to throw things away, so for me, using my leftover scrapbook supplies saves me a lot of money...and helps me to be able to make one of a kind cards for my friends and family! For the card shown here - I used a card base for the background, simple strips of leftover scraps in the colors that match the background, and then a simple circle Sizzix die cut made.  After I attached the c...

Step two:  Take the white scrap of paper, start to stamp the saying all across the paper.  Add to the purple cardstock base.   Step three:  Create the witch using the black ink pad and black embossing powder.  After this has been heated, then use the radiant pearls paint to paint in the image.  Add clear embossing powder to the painted image and heat.  (You can also use chalks, markers, etc., to paint in the image.)  Step four:  After you have trimmed the image to ...

Using scraps for card making

Organizer box - categories for cards      Making cards is a lot of fun - grabbing a quick card pack from a local craft store that has the envelopes and the card bases, add your scraps and leftovers from your layouts - and you instantly have one of a kind handmade cards!!!  Since I have rubber stamped longer than I have scrapbooked, doing both crafts makes it easy when I create, by using leftovers for things like cards, bookmarks, and even paper piecing patterns.  I have things in categories for the cards I make, however, this is my list - feel free to add to it, or change it in any capacity!   Anniversary or wedding Baby Birthday Friendship Get well Just because Notecards Sympathy Thank you Thinking of you Holidays      As I scrapbook - I put the scraps from that project in a small clear plastic drawer - and then when it gets full, I put them in an accordion style file folder separated by color.  As I am creating thin...
