Using up your scraps to save money

Thanks       Using every bit of your scraps is key to creating on a budget - especially if you are already needing to save money due to the economy.  For the examples shown here - you will see the heart I used in brown for the Thanks card...  For the note card, I used the background shape used when I cut out the heart for this card.  You will notice the side piece on both of the cards, those were left over from the framed layout page example on the bottom.  I didn't want to throw that piece away, so it was saved and used on the card examples here.  Saving all of the scraps you can help if you want to save money...this way, you can use on paper piecing patterns, cards, punch pieces, tags, backgrounds, or die cut shapes.   Note card       For the cards you work on - this is where you end up saving money using up all the little things you have...like a small strip of paper when you trim something... or the inside of the hea...

New Years Resolutions Mini Album Challenge

I love to make mini albums...from the time I figured out how, I have loved them!  For me, I have always had to scrapbook cheaply.....by that I mean I have had to use each and every item and use it wisely to be able to continue to create more things!  This year is no different, however, I am going to teach you guys all that I have learned in the past 20 years...to be able to help you create like me!  So, lets get started on your New Years Resolutions mini album!   The album will look like the one pictured  here.... Time Flies... an easy layout to recreate.  My son is now 24, when I started his album he was around 18 or so!  Waiting that long to start a child's album is hard because you have to remember so many different things!  This layout was very easy to recreate, even the sewing around the edges!  As I looked at what to do in this layout, I wanted to showcase how time flies when your kids are growing up.  One day they are babies, learning to go up and down stairs, and the next they are learning how to drive and getting their own lives going!  The supplies you need to recreate this layout is: Cardstock Saying stickers Buttons Floss for around the edges Black journaling pen Tags Sewing maching for sewing around the edges Needle for the floss Step one:  Find the photos you want to scrapbook. Step two:  I chose the saying stamps first, so I could decide on the colors of cardstock to use.  Step three:  On the base cardstock piece, us...
