Beginner Scrapbook Layout

When you are first starting out scrapbooking...you want to create a wonderful project, without a lot of work.  You expect to sit down, and instantly know exactly what you are doing to create that perfect layout or project!  instead, you end up looking at the papers, embellishments and photos with more questions than anything!  When I first started scrapbooking, I bought way more supplies than I used at the time.  When I couldn't "shop" anymore, I had all this stuff that I could use still, and use it up I did!   Before you start your first project, look at examples of different layouts, more of the placement of the items...not the "theme" of the page.  Also look at the ads you see in magazines - the full page ones advertising a product.  I have made plenty of layouts from some aspect of ads, and they turned out wonderfully!   Supplies:   Blue cardstock - 3 sheets White cardstock - 4-5 sheets Red cardstock - 1 sheet Sticker p...

Different ways you can journal on your layouts

I am working on a series of articles on Ezine Articles about journalling and how important it is to your scrapbook layouts.  Lets look at different ways you can start to journal!  Today, we are going to look at journalling on punches or die cut shapes for different ways you can start to journal instead of the everyday block of writing on your pages!        With this layout, you can see the different colors of circles with the journalling added.  I added a smiley face and a frown face for things I like and don't like.  This was one of the funnest layouts I have ever done, using one photo and a two page layout spread!   I used my favorite color - pink, and added the brown to it in order to bring a different color other than just the pinks!  I framed the photo a bit more, adding the brown buttons to the bottom.  I then added eyelets to this piece and the bottom journalling piece to thread some floss throu...

9-11 Tenth Anniversary Remembrance Blog Hop

Welcome to a blog hop devoted to the remembrance of the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11th.  If you just happened up on my blog, then you can go back to Tami's blog with is the    beginning - you have got to see all the wonderful talent!!!    The terrorist attack against our nation, which happened a decade ago, is a long time for some.  However for many, the day feels all too close. The deeply seared memories of the human sufferings and acts of heroism, which took place on that day, changed our nation. The nation was in shock when terrorists decided to hijack our airplanes and turn them into weapons.  It was beyond anyone’s belief that something so horrific could happen on our own soil.  It would be one thing if it were just the destruction of the Twin Towers or damage to the Pentagon and a field in Shanksville, PA, but almost 3,000 people perished, from the attack, leaving a scar on the sole of America. Americans came together as...

Last and final birthday gift project...

A while ago, my sister Allison and I were talking...about procrastination....this conversation helped me to see this trait in ME....and it needs to change!!!  So Allison, I thank you - not only for the past amazing 5 months...of you sharing your life with me, and loving me and making me the person I am today..but for being the influence on me that you are.         The gifts you have seen all week, the card, the gift bag, the framed page, the birthday book and the mini album you see here - are what she will get for her birthday!  I have had so much inspiration that I couldn't stop making things - so thank you for giving me reasons to scrapbook again...I look forward to making many more projects for you!!!   I hope next week that you have an awesome week...  You see, we lost my dad on 8/5/04 - 3 days after my birthday, and we buried him the day before Allison's birthday...so we both have bad memories of this time period. ...
