Favorite Things...

Favorite things .....(and NO, I"m not talking about Oprah's favorite things...)we all have things that are a "few of our favorite things", but have you documented them?  Or,instead twist things up...do a favorite things layout for each of your kids, or your favorite things each year....you get the idea!  I know if I were to do a "favorites" layout today, I would more than likely do a mini album instead, to be able to document a lot of different things!  Since this was done for my All About Me album, the plan was a bit different from the beginning!  In this layout, I decided to use my favorite color as the basis of the layout, accented with white and a bit of silver in the tags.  The photos are all things that are my "favorites"...my daughter's blessing dress that my mom made, my Cherished Teddies, my cat Tygress...you get the idea!  With the photos you ultimately use, don't be afraid to use some that you used in other layouts, you ...

Fun Birthday layout...

Stamping on your layouts - have you tried it yet?  This layout is done using a bit harder techniques, such as stamping, paper piecing, and using punches to create a certain look and feel.  I am one to like bright colors - so in this layout, I wanted to use the pinks from the Barbie packaging...  The layout turned out cute as anything - I can't wait to recreate using a different set of colors!  Supplies needed:   Paper - White cardstock             Background paper                                              Scraps for punch pieces and large balloons                      ...

Monochromatic color scheme

One layout that is very easy to create is a monochromatic color scheme layout, which is different shades of one color.  In this layout, I used a lot of paper tearing and a mosaic effect to recreate this darling layout titled Teenage Attitude.....with pictures of all 5 of the teenagers we had at the time.   In the top left layout, top picture is my son Ryan, next is Del's daughter Megan, and on the bottom is Del's son Jesse...  On the right picture is Del's son Cody, and my daughter Terra...  by that next August we added another "teen", but the older ones turned 20, so we didn't have as many "teens"!  The layout itself can be recreated in just about any color, or any type of pictures and theme you would like.  The hardest part in it was the paper tearing for each of the embellishments I used, but it also was a lot of fun to do too.    Directions:   Step one:   Starting with the colors you have chose, decide what color will be ...

Halloween

Halloween Halloween, it is totally not my favorite time of the year, but yet this is one of my favorite layouts of my kids....taken 19 years ago!  The layout was made from a kit I bought a long time ago, but I also added a few things to it such as the brads and Halloween sign at the bottom left side.  This spread uses 5 photos, plus with the space the tags fill up, you could use a couple of other photos if you want to!   The kit had the orange paper plus the tags.  I added the photos, the ribbon for the tags, along with the brads and Halloween sign.   Since I was running short on paper, I trimmed the inside of the black paper to use it for matting my photos.  This way, you couldn't tell by the front of the layout, and I saved money by using the paper I did have, instead of running out and buying more.  Basic supplies to complete the layout: 2 sheets black cardstock 2 sheets orange patterned paper 4 tags 2 brads or eyelets in...
