Robins Nest

Today's post is just a bit different - I am trying out for the Robins Nest design team - so the projects you will see today is for them!  Now, since I couldn't decide which team I wanted to try for - I decided to actually do 3 different projects - a scrapbook layout, a set of cards, and an altered project and then let them decide which one - if any - they wanted me to be a part of!  Funny thing is, I also won a recent blog hop gift which was fun stuff to play with from them, so my entry today also has their remarkable papers from them!  I hope you enjoy my projects!     My first project I am going to show you today started with this Pinterest pin!   I don't like copying exactly to the sketch, but this one ended up being a lot like the original one yet with my own Lynda's twist!  This is the first time I have been able to work with the Robins Nest papers - and will not be the last for sure!!!  I am in love with the two sided paper for sure!!! ...

Simply52 Designers Sketch -

I am so happy to introduce a new design team I am on, Simply52 Designers Blog, formerly known as Pencil Lines!   Sketches are wonderful to use - and this sketch is no different!!!  You also are given possible colors to use along with your creation, to make it easier to do your own thing!  As I type this, I see a fun card I can do just by using the right side of the sketch only!  Looks like I will need to play a little bit this weekend it looks like!        For the sketch - you will also find this at Simply52 Designers Blog...(link to follow)...  Sketch #1, Simply 52 Designers Blog, formerly known as Pencil Lines      My creation came together and was a lot of fun to do once I got it started!  It was one of those pictures that I have wanted to scrapbook, but no inspiration to finish actually do it!  Once I put together the background paper, the rest really came together in no time!  I...

Fun news - and a challenge

I started scrapbooking around 13 years ago or so, my first project - was my 2nd wedding album!  My first stamping project was my almost 21 year old daughters' birth announcements - so I've been around a while now!  I decided to start Memories in Tyme to show people how easy it is to create.   I am now certified to teach through EK Success' Spotted Canary program, as well as now teaching at Michael' s Arts & Crafts at a local Denver area store!  I am excited to say the least, and can see all my hard work starting to pay off - especially since being here in Colorado!        Now - if you are expecting something from me in the mail - I am really behind right now!  Life has just thrown me some interesting curve balls, in which I am trying to figure out how to deal with them!  I am also in school full time, plus started a new job...Life for me is just nuts, and things that needed to get done has NOT been done! ...

Reading.....

One thing I love to do is read... I do book reviews for Simply Stacie  - and have loved reading since I was just a little girl.  Being the youngest, I would sit and watch my mom and dad read book after book...seems the rest of us girls got that same gene!!!         For this layout, I used one of my favorite color schemes, blue, wheat and ivory...  I made the paper piecing of the books, out of scraps and a marker - various heart die cuts and punches (totally taken from My Creative Companion 2).....and then pictures of my books to complete the look.   Supply list:   2 sheets wheat cardstock  2 sheets blue cardstock 1 sheet Ivory cardstock Alphabet rub-on's  Larger alphabet item (chipboard or thick letter) for the "I" Various die cuts and punches Black marker Directions:   Step one:  Take the blue sheet of paper, trim 1" from the side and bottom of the paper.   Step two:  Trim t...
My Life       The digital layouts that are done and shown are all done with Serif Digital Scrapbook Artist 2 software and their free kits they have available.  I love the versatility of the paper and embellishments they have in each of their kits, being able to use them for other things...not just the theme.  The kit I used for this project is British Street Party - which also has a fun themed paper, and other themed related sayings you can add to your layouts. Most people look at the theme of something, and instantly not look into it because of the name...I was curious to see what was in the kit, and I am glad I did.  Make sure to look inside the kits to see all the different things you have available inside each kit!  I am working on a special project with the layouts I am sharing from this event...  I want to make a book at Shutterfly.com with the layouts I am making now and give it to my kids and my mom...        ...

Christmas in July day 3

Christmas elf mini album       Welcome to my first ever Memories in Tyme Christmas in July blog hop!!!   After going to my first blog hop recently, I knew I needed to host my own hop this month for people to start to look at Christmas!  The economy is hard right now, what better way to save money by making wonderful things for your friends and family instead of spending a ton of money you don’t have!  Plus if you spend a bit of time and money each month, things will not be so hard at the end!  Everyone has been working really hard on things this month, and we all hope you enjoy all the fun ideas we are sharing with you!!  Page 2 and 3       Participants are:   Lynda:  http://memoriesintyme.blogspot.com/ Kimmarie  -   http://kimmarieskorner.blogspot.com/ Kari -  http://purplefuntastickcreations.blogspot.com/ Elsa -   http://www.justafewdesigns.blogspot....

Great gift ideas for Christmas - CHEAP, but not cheap LOOKING!!!

If you have followed me for a while, you will know I am all about saving money and doing things cheap...but I can't stand things to "look cheap"...  My husband was taken out of work over 8 years ago, at the time, I lived in Utah - scrapbooking heaven!  I couldn't shop much, I had to do things as cheap as I could...  One gift idea for you to get started on is an altered composition notebook!        If you look at your gift list, you will find a few people that you could make an altered notebook for.  They are great for younger girls to start a journal, or even just for an adult who might be going through a trying time; add a book to it, and a handmade bookmark and you are done.  If you look at the school supply sales right now, you can pick a notebook up for about $.50 each, customize them to each person you are giving the gift to.  For teens, add a gift card to their favorite store hidden in one of the pages! ...

Another monochromatic layout - with a technique challenge!!!

dare to DREAM left side         A monochromatic layout, simply put, is different shades of one color  - such as the layout shown here "dare to DREAM".   Using one color to start out with is easy on someone who is new - to be able to create a wonderful layout using only shades of one color - in order to make it less confusing on you!!!  If you use the Bazzill Basics paper packs, they will usually come in shades that match together, to take the guess work out of the project you are working on.   dare to DREAM right side      With this layout, I selected two different photos - one of my husband, me, and my three kids at my parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary party.  This as a very bittersweet photo - dad was dead a few years later right after my birthday...  The bottom photo was of me when I got my ring from Del...  Del and I didn't plan on each other, and over the years - well...the love we have for each other...
Ok - I am a dork...I've had glasses since I was in the second grade...thick ugly glasses.  I didn't realize until just a few years ago that I am almost legally blind unless I have my contacts or glasses on, until my eye doctor told me!  People who knew me at this time, wouldn't recognize me if they seen me walking down the street - I wear contacts now!   My Dorky Glasses left side      For this layout, I started with the paper...everything else evolved from here.  The paper I used was from a pack I received from my kids for Christmas one year!  I was so excited to get paper it wasn't funny...I still have quite a bit of it left even after this project!    The funny part about the layout - I had broke my glasses and haven't replaced them since...I just ended up with contacts instead so the glass part is actually the "glasses" in the layout!  The rims of the glasses were done by tracing the frame on the c...

Birthday layout project idea

Happy Birthday left side       This layout was one of the funnest layouts I have done and wanted to share it with you!  The "birthday boy" is my youngest son, born on 12/26...he just graduated high school...so this is for HIM!  I had talked to Pebbles in my Pocket one day, and a few days later a package arrived, of tons of fun stickers for me to play with!  At the time I was living in Utah, and tried to get my "scrapbooking" endeavor out...to no avail!  When the package arrived, I knew just what to do with this set of birthday stickers! Supplies:   Cardstock - 2 sheets for the background                  2-3 sheets for the photos  Birthday related stickers Fine tip marker Happy Birthday right side Paper trimmer                                                 ...
