BBQ's and summertime

BBQ left side       Who hasn't spent a day BBQing with the family - spending the day preparing and cooking your meal, for the whole family to sit and enjoy...  When I was living in Utah with my family, mom would spend the day before...or the morning of...cooking the noodles, and then the potatoes and eggs...to make a macaroni salad and a potato salad to eat that day.  Whether we had hamburgers and hot dogs, or steak...depended on the event and the day, or what mom wanted to have made that day!  I know for me, this was one of the best times in my life - spending it with family...when we all got along that is!  I'm afraid if we all had to sit in the same house now, some of us would probably be duking it out instead of acting like humans!    For this 2 page spread, if you have punches if different styles, you can recreate this same layout without much difficulty.    BBQ right side Supplies: Red checkered paper - 1...

Special Events

Birthdays are events that come once a year for each of us. Whatever you choose to do for your friends and family for their birthdays, making a handmade card for them is not only fun, but also nice for the person to receive.   One of my resolutions this year, is to make sure everyone that is special to me, receives a handmade card from me for their birthday.   That means, I need to make sure I am working hard to accomplish that by making sure I am organized each month.   In the past few days, I started giving you ways to keep track of special events .  I have other ideas that I am sharing with you in the next few days, so make sure to check often for fun ideas this week on anniversary card ideas, as well as other ways to organize the dates in your life!   If you are like me, you can tweak my original idea and create something of your own!  Have fun with it, and make sure you share with me what YOU decide to do!  Working on another post for yet anothe...

Notecards to make

I love to make cards that are in fun colors...such as the bright pink and green combination to the left.  I used a very simple Sizzix flower die cut, buttons for the middle, a bit of ribbon and the paper adds to the card itself.  The hardest part of the cards themselves is coming up with the ideas.  In this example, I made a simple notecard, to be able to customize the inside of the card by writing a long note if you'd rather!   Fun card to make in different colors, or 4 of the same cards to give to someone as a small token of appreciation!  Easy and cheap to do for gifts , or just because you want to!       In the example to the right, another simple notecard, I used pink and purple Sizzix flower die cuts, and white buttons in the middle of the flowers.  I cut a piece of green paper for the stems of the flowers, and used a heart punch that was cut in half for the leaves on the flowers.  Again, I used patterned pape...

There Goes My Life

I was told from someone that the "first children should be throw away children", because we screw them up so much!  In some aspects I have to agree, especially in my oldests' case.  I was a single mother at 21, raising a premature son on my own.  I didn't really know "how" to be a mother really, so this poor kid really has had it rough!  He is now 24...in college, and trying to do the best job he possibly can, so I guess I didn't screw him up too much!  This 2 page layout was made with each of my three kids in mind.  I wanted a place to put into words how I feel about each of my kids!    I wanted a layout that showed them how much I love them all, and how each of them changed me in one way or another.  When designing this layout I designed it with this in mind: The photos used are my favorite photos of my kids. Embellishments are my own design on the tags, in a monochromatic color scheme.  Under each photo is hid...
Here is an easy layout idea using very little supplies, focusing more on the picture and the words written, instead of the embellishments.  Supplies used:  Brown/pink background paper White/pink cardstock 1 photo Alphabet stickers 2 different flower punches Chipboard frame For this layout, I used the chipboard frame and 2 different types of flower punches to finish up the look.  The background paper was enough "noise" so to speak, I wanted to focus on the reason of the layout and picture in the first place.  To recreate this layout, here are directions:  Step one:  Decide the photo you want to showcase for this layout.  Step two:  Choose the background paper that fits the photo, or the person you are creating the page for.  Step three:  Using alphabet stickers, create your title for the top border of the page. Matt it once with a color that matches your background paper.  Step four:  For your pho...
This is one example of a card made from scraps and punches!   An easy card to recreate using any theme and any punches you have available to you. Items needed to recreate this card: Saying stamp Black inkpad Ribbon Button Bow punch Scissors or trimmer Scraps of paper Card/envelope  Step one:  Choose the card background you want to start with. Step two:  Choose the colors you want to use to go with the card you have selected.  Step three:  Using a trimmer or scissors, begin to make the presents for the card.  Step four:  Punch 3 bows for the presents, and create the ribbon part that goes underneath the bow.  Step five:  Using glue, put the presents together.  Step six:  Put down the background paper on the card front. Step seven:  Place the presents down on the background paper. Step eight:  Stamp the saying at the top of the card using the black ink pad. Step nine:  M...

Easy card idea

Very easy card idea , using a saying stamp, scraps of paper, a punch, and a brad to complete the look! This card does not take a lot of time to finish up, and you can change the look by using a variety of different colors and sayings, depending on what papers you use. As you look through your scraps, look at what you have right now. I will say it repeatedly, as you are creating a layout do a quick card as well! Keep a stash of cards you have made in the themes you would most likely use each month. Take a look at what you are going to need in the next few months, so when you have a bit of time, you can take the time to make a few cards instead of rushing when you don’t have the time! Cards might take 5 minutes to make, or more depending on the technique you use. Added to my basic toolbox for scrapbooking, you will want to get a black inkpad, and another color or two, I use white more than any other color, except a black inkpad! You also want to start to look for basic stamps that ...
