4 Pack of Cards using Scraps Project

When I make a project, I keep on making things until the paper is gone...  The scraps from other projects make different things than the first one, just by using different colors! Today's project - note cards done using the same paper from yesterday, only different colors for the base of the cards!  I love how they turned out!   Each card is different - yet they all match!  Add a saying stamp set, and you can get 4 different cards in no time!  The cost goes down too, when you are using scraps of paper and what you have at home already!  Learn to shop smart, save your scraps from other projects, and simply have fun at creating!   Lynda Jeffs Memories in Tyme

Set of Cards Using Scraps

When it comes to creating - I keep most ALL of my scraps of paper.  I have some scraps that I used at least 15 years ago - STILL in my stash in case I need this particular piece!  As we all know, papers come and go depending on the company, season, themes and colors!  Living in Utah while I did - it was really nice to be able to go to the Scrapbook Expo to spend money on paper and supplies! If you scroll down to yesterday's post, you will see where it all started - and the projects I have made (with a couple of links) that sparked the cards you will see today!  You will need: Supplies needed: 4 card bases w/envelopes 4 different stamp sayings Black ink pad Scraps of paper from other projects Die cuts 3D flowers Adhesive Directions: Step one:  Using your scraps of paper, start to pick out the pieces you want for each card.  Adhere them to the base of the card.    Step two:  Stamp the 4 sayings on scrap paper, trimming fo...

Curls and Grins Design Team Project -

Well, hello to all the Curls and Grins peeps, I am excited to bring you my very first project today!  A little about me first - and then on to my fun projects!  My name is Lynda Jeffs, born and raised in the Salt Lake City, Utah area 49 years ago today - but have lived in 4 different states in 5 years now!  I am a mom of 3, step mom to 5 - and step grandma to 7 almost 8 awesome kids!  I have stamped for 22 years now, and scrapbooked for about 14 years!  I also love to alter - A LOT!!!  So, now that you know a bit about me - lets get started on today's project!  One thing I like is two sided cardstock - THIS paper is absolutely everything I could ask for and more!  With this first card above - I used two different patterned papers, for the background's - added the saying, matted twice - and the same color of balloons for the top of the card!  Love how this one turned out!         ...

Rhonda's Birthday Blog Hop

Its my birthday and I'll scrap if i want to, scrap if i want to. you'll scrap too when we're all thru. I have asked a special group of scrappy friends to join me in celebrating my birthday with a blog hop .You are going to find a ton of inspiration among this talented group!  Here I am celebrating another birthday and turning a year older. I don't know if that is a good thing or not , but let's just celebrate and enjoy the day. If you came from Sher then your in the right place. If you just happened at my place please start at the beginning with Rhonda   so you don't miss a thing. On to my project shall we.. I started by making cards, first by stamping them - and then by using scrapbooking supplies along with stamps to create one of a kind cards to give my friends and family!  I also use scraps - because it makes more sense to make a card with what is available, instead of whipping out a fresh sheet of cardstock every time I want to create a new ca...

Spring Blog Hop - Day 1

Welcome to Memories in Tyme Blog Hop - where you will find all things relating to Spring!  This is my favorite time of year - the leaves are starting to come out - we've all been hibernating all winter in the cold...so now it's time to do some fun Spring projects!!!  You will be sure to find layouts, cards, decor and more with these seriously talented ladies...   Since you are at the beginning, lets get started with my project!!!     I started out making cards oh so long ago...I love going back to my beginnings and see what I can do with cards in today's market instead of 20 years ago!  My skills have taken off, and it doesn't take me too much time to make a fun card!  So, this weekend I am sharing some brand new Spring related cards you can make for anyone!   This card turned out so cute...and very simple too!  I love combining stamps with other type of things in order to make something that is truly one of a kind.  Both of thes...

Final project - with a bit of a twist!

One thing I really love to do - is create - and the other thing ... is share what I love to do !  It's a natural thing for me - just give me paper, scissors, embellishments and glue...add a trimmer and my punches and I am GREAT to go!  Find me in a horrible mood - honestly - just shove me in my corner to let me create and make nice things for my friends and family!  Pretty soon I will be just fine!  I'm not sure if you guys are like me - but I learned that scrapbooking is a great therapy tool personally!   I was on Facebook - and you know...I have been trying to stay OFF that thing and actually get more done instead of playing the games and getting sucked into conversations!  I found a post about Jinger Adams' Design Team and the rest of my night was history!  So - here is my official entry, and we will see how this whole thing goes - however, I hope she likes my style enough to let me join her new team!  If not - I hope she finds awesome g...

Week of scraps - with a challenge

This week has been all about using scraps - and things I have made from using them.  I'm all about saving money - especially when it comes to creating!  You don't need each and every supply out there on the market today, learn to use what you have available to you - along with your scraps...in order to SAVE money!        The above card was made with 2 stamps, white embossing powder and scraps of paper!   The two bookmarks to the sides here - also used scraps, and then die cut shapes in the flower and butterfly, and then the flower punch shape.  Look at what you have in your stash of stuff....or what die cuts you might have available to you in order to make the things you need to make!  Bookmarks - along with a special book, or a gift certificate to purchase something - make a great gift...or at least something cute to keep your place if you love to read like I do!        Now for the challenge par...

Week of scraps - with a challenge

All of the cards I am sharing this week were made with scraps from other projects!  I like to have a few card bases around to be able to send out a quick card when I can - instead of spending a bunch of time making them!  I had used the Cricut die cut machine to cut out the flowers here - again left over from another project (seen above) as I had cut plenty of flowers out that day!!!  With the card to the left, I used a simple monochromatic color scheme in red only!  The only accent color was the white in the middle of the flowers and the background of the saying!  A red stamp was used, Stampin' Up craft pad - (love them as you can emboss with these as well as basic stamp!           With the card to the left, the same flowers was used as the embellishment - this is a complimentary color scheme, using the green as the main background and the red as the complimentary color!  I used white as the accent c...

Week of scraps - with a challenge

When I use my scraps, sometimes I might not have the specific color I want to use in a "scrap".  Take these two projects for example - the background on the bookmark is a different blue than the blue on the background of the card is.  However, both work well!  Simple flower die cuts on the bookmark - and Madge on the card!  I simply chalked Madge - and added a simple saying to the top of the creation!  This card I can picture sending it to a friend, planning a day to spend together - or meeting up at Starbucks to catch up on old times!         Using scraps on your projects - truly makes the card you send out be one of a kind as you won't ever get that paper back again!   I look at how the paper lines have grown over the past 10 years - into so many different styles, textures, colors and brands you can't even begin to name them all!  Every year the paper changes - so you pick up what you like when you find it -...

Week of scraps - with a challenge

I do not use black a lot - especially when I scrapbook...but when I do - I like to use something with a bit more "pop" to it, versus just plain colors!  This is what was left over from another project that I had worked on - a bulletin board for a graduation!  This project was done at least a year ago, and just found different things to use with the scraps now!        With the top card - I used only black and white...black brads, and the hearts is actually a stamp!  The saying was done on my computer - and then printed off - so I could use them on different projects.  I don't like to buy a lot of saying stamps, especially when I have my computer and printer...simply print the saying out on cardstock and you are done!         With the two bookmarks, again - scraps of paper from other projects used to make these - as well as punch shapes and die cut shapes either cut out specifically for these, or they ...

Week of scraps - with a challenge

I love making cards, but I especially love making them out of scraps from other projects I have done.   Both of these cards were made with one stamp - a Stampin' Up stamp, and then different colors of ink to match!  Using scraps helps so you can save money - by using one stamp various ways, and then scraps of paper each card you make can end up saving you money in the long run!         With the above card, I used one stamp, a simple card base, with the border at the top.  I added a simple bow to the top - and then buttons around the bottom to match the circles from the top area! The saying is embossed in white powder!  For the card to the side, it started with the base, and then a simple green image embossed in clear powder!  I finished it up with a simple bow and button to the side of the creation!  This type of card can be made in any versatile type of paper and can be made ahead of time!  Cards like this ...

Week of scraps - with a challenge

As I first started stamping - I wouldn't necessarily keep my scraps - but then, there really wasn't a lot of scraps left over when you make a lot of the same cards at once.  It was after I started scrapbooking when I started having plenty of things "left over" from the projects I was working on.  I hated to throw things away - especially when my husband was taken out of work...I didn't have money to waste supplies and things.  Living in Utah - you are right in the middle of scrapbook HEAVEN - with manufacturers and stores all over the place!  Then the recession hit - Well folks, I've LIVED the current recession and have been in it since that time - I know a thing or two and can help save you money along the way by teaching you what I have learned!      As you work on your scrapbook layouts, keep a file folder to put scraps in - from the projects you are currently working on.  This is where I draw from when I am making cards an...

Blogaversary -

I started this blog back at the end of 2009 - but started to really get it going on 3/16/2010 which I consider my blogaversary since I have posted most every day since!  Memories in Tyme started as a way to help people learn how to make their own style of handmade cards and scrapbooks...and a few gifts along the way!  I really didn't know what I was doing - all I knew is I liked to create and share what I made!        Over the course of the past 3 years, my visions for Memories have went from one thing to much more!  Scrapbooking is very therapeutic taking pictures, paper and embellishment along with the written word to create a story about your life. Not only do I like to paper scrapbook, but I also like to digital scrapbook as well...there is nothing better than finding the perfect picture - having the inspiration for something, and then getting something done quickly on the computer, no mess to clean up afterwards. ...

Which came first - now my story!

Terra, Del, me and Casey at his graduation 2011       I will start by saying thank you to everyone for the continued support for Memories in Tyme.  A lot has gone on since I started this blog almost 3 years ago, of which I never thought it would go this far!  Scrapbooking and Memories kept me alive after a really horrible time in my life...so lets get started with my story!   If you missed the blog hop a few days ago, just scroll down and you will get the whole hop!  Make sure to go through and leave a comment, as one lucky winner this month will receive a free goodie pack of scrapbooking supplies!  Now on for my story... Is It Coffee Yet card      At the time I started crafting, I lived in Denver, Colorado area where I found stamping and making cards.  My very first project was my now 21 year old daughter's (pictured above)  birth announcements!  Since that first project - I have been hooked!  I went t...

Using heart die cuts - two different ways

Sometimes it's not about using the newest supplies out on the market - really, is anyone that is receiving it going to look at it and say to you, "oh, you didn't use the latest supplies" when you made that!!!  Really, it's about the reason you are making the card and sending it out in the first place.         I love using pinks and browns together, and with this card, I used an ivory card base, with the pink scraps for the base of the card.  Simple paper tearing for one of the background papers, adding the heart die cuts to finish it off.  The inside can either have a simple saying, or left blank in order to customize it to the person you are giving it to.  With this type of card, you can use just about any color for the background paper, as well as something different for the hearts as well.        With this 2 page spread, I used traditional "love" themed paper and embellishments on a not so "lov...

Thank you - ideas and a challenge

I have no idea how long I have been blogging, this was my first one...since then, I have 2 more that are not scrapbook/crafting related!  During the course of the next few months - there will be a few changes here - my web site will be revamped, a new Etsy shop opened, and the blog will be moved to the new site!  I am excited for the changes, and look forward to see how things are for my family at the end of the year!!!         So, thank you for the continued support - while I had to take some time off for me!  I discovered I am a lot like my sister, where we both just don't talk a lot when we have things that are bothering us, we internalize more than anything.  I feel so blessed this year - a relationship with her, and starting to heal with family...blessed beyond measure for sure!  That said, I am showing a simple Thank You card today - with a bit of a challenge to you and me both!!!    First the idea's...
