Beginner Scrapbook Layout

When you are first starting out scrapbooking...you want to create a wonderful project, without a lot of work.  You expect to sit down, and instantly know exactly what you are doing to create that perfect layout or project!  instead, you end up looking at the papers, embellishments and photos with more questions than anything!  When I first started scrapbooking, I bought way more supplies than I used at the time.  When I couldn't "shop" anymore, I had all this stuff that I could use still, and use it up I did!   Before you start your first project, look at examples of different layouts, more of the placement of the items...not the "theme" of the page.  Also look at the ads you see in magazines - the full page ones advertising a product.  I have made plenty of layouts from some aspect of ads, and they turned out wonderfully!   Supplies:   Blue cardstock - 3 sheets White cardstock - 4-5 sheets Red cardstock - 1 sheet Sticker p...

Last and final birthday gift project...

A while ago, my sister Allison and I were talking...about procrastination....this conversation helped me to see this trait in ME....and it needs to change!!!  So Allison, I thank you - not only for the past amazing 5 months...of you sharing your life with me, and loving me and making me the person I am today..but for being the influence on me that you are.         The gifts you have seen all week, the card, the gift bag, the framed page, the birthday book and the mini album you see here - are what she will get for her birthday!  I have had so much inspiration that I couldn't stop making things - so thank you for giving me reasons to scrapbook again...I look forward to making many more projects for you!!!   I hope next week that you have an awesome week...  You see, we lost my dad on 8/5/04 - 3 days after my birthday, and we buried him the day before Allison's birthday...so we both have bad memories of this time period. ...

Reminder challenge

One of my worst habits that I have is procrastinating - I get it from my mom...  I either spend my time doing other "things", or I just don't have the energy or "creativeness" to get done what I need to - one or the other!  Thus me doing these posts to help not only myself, but others to remember the events in their life they need to remember!        Spend a bit of time today in looking at your calendar until the middle of August... do you need to make anything, send anything, or just spend time in purchasing the supplies you need to be able to make everything?  It helps to be able to get a list going, or at least things looked at so you know what needs to be done when it needs to be done!  Do you need to spend time now looking at ideas, or shopping for the gift itself?          For me, we have a birthday this month, a birthday for my sister next month, a Christmas in July blog hop, and a Birthday blo...

More monochromatic layouts

Miss Catitude - left side        This is our cat Tygress - fat cat, Miss B...or "Miss C atitude"  as she's known here on this layout!  This was a very easy layout  to do - in a monochromatic pink theme.  Again I used a pack of paper from the Bazzill Basics paper line to use in all pinks!   Bazzill makes it easy to start with just the pack of paper...  I started with the background paper, choosing a darker color out  of the pack.  The lighter pink was used for the border - with a strip of very light pink along the side of that.  For the photos - the main photo on the left side of the layout spread was  matted twice, with a small journaling shape hanging  underneath to talk about Tygress, also matted twice like her photo was!   Miss Catitude - right side      For this layout, the only other color that was used for an accent was silver - which was wrapped around the letters and tag,...
