Beginner Scrapbook Ideas

With this 2 page layout spread - I used easy enough techniques you can recreate using your own photos (cause you sure don't want to use mine, LOL)! A simple layout using 4 photos, a nice quote, - and the title is done using cardstock, film strips, buttons and floss, along with words in the middle of each of the film strips!   I love the yellow, blue and green combination along with the supplies used for each of the pages - and how easy you can recreate them!   The best part of this layout - is it can be done using what you have at home...a bowl, paper, and scraps of paper for the borders, using what you have available for your title!  You don't need to use exactly each supply I do, learn to switch it up a bit!       **To make the circles, simply grab a couple of bowl's from your kitchen, looking at how larger you will want your circle's to be.  Place one of them most of the way on the page, trace and cut it out.  As you matt it on the second co...

Domestic Violence...with a challenge

I spent the past weekend with my daughter (and my son too) - a bitter-sweet type of visit with her though...  One thing I didn't realize is the decisions I made in my life -  and how they affected her even now.  I don't want for her what I had...I want better for her.  I want her to be strong, independent, kind, happy...find a great man, and then have kids...  I don't want her to have 3 marriages, have to deal with someone treating her badly...by either hitting her, or making her feel like she is less than the other person...  I certainly don't want her to be lectured because she has done something wrong, or hit because she said something out of turn...  I don't want her to have the bathroom door ripped off the hinges while she is in the bathroom cowering.  I don't want her to have to explain behaviors...I don't want her to condone things that shouldn't be condoned...           What I didn'...

My favorite mini album

He said...she said - one of my favorite mini albums I have done so far (other than the albums I will be sharing next week)...  It was designed after a project I found in Our Family Scrapbooks by Lisa Bearnson and Becky Higgins - one I got from Lisa, Marci and Angie at Creating Keepsakes Magazine.  Del and I have been together for 11 years on Mothers Day...in fact, he moved in with me on Mothers Day weekend - 11 years ago.  He moved in - and never left!  Together, we have created a marriage and a life that I never thought I could have... This album was very simply made, using 2 pictures of Del and  I, the rest is for us to journal the different areas in the album.  I totally loved Lisa's original idea in the book (pg156-159), she used tags for the "he said/she said" part, and circles to keep each person's thoughts in.  I used a different look - a blank page for each person to put things in, like broken bones, family, things like that - that I want to...

Fun Birthday layout...

Stamping on your layouts - have you tried it yet?  This layout is done using a bit harder techniques, such as stamping, paper piecing, and using punches to create a certain look and feel.  I am one to like bright colors - so in this layout, I wanted to use the pinks from the Barbie packaging...  The layout turned out cute as anything - I can't wait to recreate using a different set of colors!  Supplies needed:   Paper - White cardstock             Background paper                                              Scraps for punch pieces and large balloons                      ...
Back a few years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Lisa Bearnson at the Scrapbook Expo in Utah.  Now, at the time, I was a mess...I was dealing with a lot of personal issues, including my father getting really sick and a "family situation" that was not going away, getting worse in fact.  My sister and I had stopped in to Heartland Paper Company in Utah March 2004, my dad's birthday.     We had spent the day with him, and when Deb and I were going home we stopping in to the Grand Opening festivities at the store for a moment.  I had just started my Book of Me album, and was using it for therapy reasons, with no support system to help "deal" with it, and wanted to see the new stuff that had came out.  I had a few dollars to spend, and could spend my money wisely there with the punch card!  I showed my album to the "owner", in hopes of getting a job, or seeing what she thought of my stuff...someone outside my family circle so to speak....

Its back to school time!

School Time It’s back to school time everywhere…or close to it! As I look back on each school year for my kids, I would have liked to have done things differently.
