Beginner Layout - With a Challenge

When you are first starting out scrapbooking and making cards, you want your projects to look nice, but not take a lot of time to accomplish it!  You want to be able to learn how - without spending a lot of time doing it!  My beginner projects are meant to do just that - with you tweaking to what you have - or your own style!  For this project - I used one photo, with the age I was...and then 42 random things about me written on the two pages.   Basic supply list: 2 sheets background paper 2 sheet coordinating patterned paper 1 sheet (or scraps) white cardstock Scraps for punch's Rub-on's Daisy punch (can substitute) Brads Template for numbers Black fine tip marker Directions:   Step one:  Decide the "number" you are using and start to write down things to go with the theme you have selected.   Step two:  Matt one photo on patterned paper and white cardstock.   Step three:  If using a punch, punch 13 daisy's of 2 dif...

Lucky - with a challenge!!!

I don't consider myself a "lucky" person...I have had my fair share of things I have been through in life.  I lost an ex-husband to suicide and my father to Alzheimer's disease both on 8/5 - which was 3 days after my birthday - 5 years apart.  I was involved in a tornado 6 days after the ex died - in Salt Lake City, Utah - where tornado's don't hit. I was molested by 3 different people - I had an ex-wife from HELL get involved in my life and try to ruin and devastate not only me but my husband and my marriage.  However, I am one lucky woman when I met my husband Del, let me tell you!        Del came in my life when I needed someone the most - and I came in his about the same time!  We both had kids from previous relationships and marriages that we tried to blend (thus the ex-wife from hell comment) but he was something I just could not get enough of - especially how wonderful of a father he is!  He has a loving yet jackas...

Today, I am sharing a Design Team layout and card that I have made using the sketch above!  Make sure you go check out Simply52 blog  because she has a great challenge using this sketch!  For the card, I simply used the top part of the sketch - minus the title portion!  For the colors in the layout, I chose to use the pink and mint green shades that are showcased here in the sketch!  I added a bit of silver "bling" to make the layout pop!   Supplies:   1 sheet patterned paper for the background White cardstock for matting photo 2 sheets of patterned paper 1 sheet solid paper Flower w/brad Brads Alphabet "bling" Directions:   Step one:  Cut the pink piece to go under the photo.  Set aside on top of the background paper.   Step two:  Add the photo on white cardstock and then trim.  Add on pink paper and then the green.   Step three:  Trim 2 small 1/2" wide lengths of the same ...

Alphabet templates - saving money on titles

My main thing when I am scrapbooking, is I want things to match.  Alphabet templates can help you save money - by using them for your titles on your scrapbook pages, on papers that will match your layout - instead of having to run out and find a set of stickers to match!  With the above example, I used pattern paper for the top of the letters, and then matted the letters on a sheet of the pink background paper!  I then cut each letter out individually, making sure to have enough room on each side for the word.  By using alphabet templates, you don't have to worry about not having enough of a certain letter, or running out when you are in the middle of taking care of something!  By using patterned papers that match, or come in a kit - you can be assured to have the perfect matching items for your project!          One thing I like to make sure to use is fine tip scissors - to be able to get into the finer areas ...
