Cards for the Holiday's

I remember being a little girl, and waiting for my grandma and grandpa to show up on Christmas Day - they had 4 kids and each famil y received a visit that special day!  They lived in a small town down south in Utah ab out an hour from us , so it was a treat to see them!  After a few years (I am the 4 th youngest grand child ) we would spend Christmas Eve with the whole family a t the Senior Citizens Center by grandpa and grandma 's house in Santaquin !!!  I miss those times in my life when family meant everything to me, and people actually spent the time giving gifts and cards that were from the heart.    Times have changed - and really so did I!  There came a time in my life where Christmas was more of a chore and a hassle, than fun and exciting!  Gifts didn't mean as much as they did before, because you always had the next year, or the next gift giving event to deal with.  Making thin gs for people was even worse!   Then even ...

Christmas in July - card ideas

Christmas bear Christmas stocking         It's Christmas in July this month, so I hope you have fun with me in getting things planned out and made through out this month!  Taken from our challenges yesterday - today we are going to talk about getting your Christmas cards rolling.  The first step in starting your cards is deciding how many you are going to need to send out in the first place.  Then you need to decide if you are making them or buying them!  Are there any that are going to have to be mailed?  If so, make sure you design appropriate for mailing - you don't want to have to pay extra postage if your card is too bulky to mail.  You can also take the cards up to the person at the post office directly and have them hand stamp it, or talk to them next time you are in there anyway to see what the current guidelines are in order to mail safely.   Christmas presents      If you don't make the...

Christmas in July

With Christmas here in less than 6 months - this month will be spent sharing with you card ideas, a few layout ideas, ways you can give gifts, as well as gift ideas you can give to your friends and family.  Times are hard right now for everyone, spending the time making a one of a kind gift for someone not only helps the pocket book, but also helps when you have a lot of things you can use already - just stashed away!  Plus when you make a present for someone, it is truly a gift from the heart made specifically for that person!        Through out this month I will be giving you reminder posts - to start to look at what you need to purchase, parties you need to plan for, baking you need to do, or even gifts you need to make.  That way - you are not caught at the beginning of December having to figure out what you need or want to make, but not having enough time to do it all!  I am sure some of you already do a bit of thi...

Christmas card ideas

Christmas Card Ideas..... The cards I have made here are all done using the Glue Dots brand adhesive products... and to say I am hooked and in love is probably an understatement!    I used their mini dots, 3D dots, and regular glue dots on the cards I am showing here...   Each card is unique, and can be recreated using what YOU have available to you, in the colors you want to use, not what I am showing here!  The mini dots are wonderful to use on small pieces such as the white pieces used on the stockings here...  as well as on the vellum showed in the card below!    As you can see in the card example above, the red part of the stocking that looks like a nail head.  If you like your things to match, use their 3D Glue dots with embossing powder on them to create a look that will match your creation.  You will need to heat embossing powder on the Glue Dot twice to create the look I did.  This type of thing can be used in any...
