      Hidden journaling is one of the funnest ways you can add journaling to your layouts, things you might not want everyone in the world to see.  If you look at the layout on the left, you don't really see any journaling.  Under my baby photo is the journaling you see underneath - hidden so the world can't see everything there is to know about me!  Some things  are not meant to be for the world to see - they are meant to just be written!        When I first created this layout - I looked at myself and wondered if I was switched at birth.  I didn't look like my mom, or my dad - so really who was I?  Well, by the end of this layout - I knew who I was -   Supplies Extra sheet of cardstock the same color as the main base of the cardstock you are using.           For this week - we are talking about just starting out in scrapbooking, and some of the tools and techniques you can start with that won't break the bank!!!!  I was able to scrapbook on what was available to me during the time my husband was taken out of work, which was hard in a sense!!  I couldn't spend a lot of money on buying supplies - I had to learn to compromise with what I was using.  When everyone else was out buying stickers and things, I had to use my rubber stamps and punches to create what I wanted!  I learned what products would help save me money, and what did not!  This week we are going to talk about some of those tips and techniques - all for a beginner to try out!           One thing that I love and only use is Zig Markers!  I use them on my scrapbook pages for journalling, or for stitch marks, and especially for my paper piecing's and making sure the little fine parts...

     When you first start to scrapbook, you need easy ideas to start with - going with a monochromatic color scheme is one of the best things you can do for a beginner!  Use this for any type of cards, or layouts you are planning on!  To do a "monochromatic color scheme"  simply pick a color you want to work with, such as the blue in the layout example above.  You then want to pick three different shades of the color you have chosen - this is where getting a color wheel comes in handy for sure!        Another technique you can do when you are just beginning to scrapbook, is paper tearing - again used on the example above!  I tend to keep everything from other projects - this was left-overs from another 2 page layout spread I had done about having 5 "teens" between my husband and myself!        Journalling is one of the most important things you can do in your layouts - bringing the ...

     This month, I am a guest designer for  Scrappin Chicks Challenge Blog  -  and I am very thankful for the opportunity!  This is my last project for the guest designer spot - and I thank Scrappin Chicks for the opportunity this month!  The challenge for the month is using purple and green, adding other colors as you wish, and a Halloween theme!!!   Make sure you share with me, and with Scrappin Chicks too, we love to see what you have made from what we have created!!!!              For my idea here - I used the colors in the challenge, starting with the purple cardstock for the back, and then I trimmed 1" off the bottom and side of the green paper to matt it on top.  I added various photos of my 3 kids at Halloween time, with the title on the bottom of the photos.  This was chalked using purple and green alternating colors between the two!   I added simple brads to hold the title, and...

Front cover Page 2 and 3 Page 4 and 5      It's that wonderful time of the year again, when we send our kids back to school to learn to read, write, and do arithmetic!!!  This year, make a mini album such as this one, to give to your child's teacher for them to document the school year!!! (Or just make it and keep yourself in order to document the fun times in your child's school year!!!)  It can be made with 5 sheets of paper or cardstock, ribbon to bind it, and stickers and such to decorate it all up!!    If you use easy products such as a kit you have bought that coordinates all together, this works perfectly - being able to use up much of the things included in the kit!        The basic directions for my mini albums are in this post - to make it easier for you!  I would look at the individual pages for specifics on how that page was made!   For this album, the supply list is:   20 sheets...

Monthly event planner It's that time again.....time to look at the upcoming events that you have in your life for the next 6 weeks...   Whether you have birthday's, weddings, showers, or fun summertime events planned, grab your calendar and start to look at what you need to make, purchase, send off, or what have you!        Our economy really stinks right now, I've been living it for a long time... and learned a few things along the journey until now.  Take time to look at what you have going on so you can get started on things early - instead of at the last minute...  Start to look at the calendar for things you need to deal with until the end of August!  This way, you can start getting things you need to - put together in order to get things completed on time!   My main problem in life - (I am so like my mom) - I procrastinate - and pretty soon, what I "wanted" to do - doesn't get done because I didn't spend the time to ge...

         Basic cards - using scraps of paper from other projects...do you know how many cards I have made and given away that was made just from scraps of paper...too many to count, but this is one of them.  I was working on another project at the time, and kept the scraps from the framed page.  The colors in the blue patterned paper has a bit of brown in it, so that color was used for the accent color.  I used my Sizzix heart die cut -  which is used for many other projects as well - for the only accent, with a simple "Thanks" saying was used, but you could use whatever you have available to you instead!                                                                                            ...
