Simply52 Designers Sketch -

When I first looked at this sketch, I was not sure what to do with it - and then I grabbed these pictures and went to town!!  I hope you enjoy my idea -  The pictures were taken this summer in Citrus Heights, California on a trip to see my kids and my mom.  I wanted a page I could frame, as this is the 3 generations - my mom, me and my daughter, and the other one with my son.  I started with the background paper, from a pack of paper I purchased on clearance at Michaels.  I then chose two more background papers to create the look I was achieving.  I did not want the background paper to be right in your face - so to tone it down, I used the red and green.  For the green part, I used a Martha Stewart border punch, in which I have totally fallen in love with!  I matted the photos and then simply added the title at an angle to create visual interest!   Great sketch, make sure you go to Simply52 Designers  and send us a link to your...

It's my favorites week!!!!

A kiss to build a dream on.. .this happens to be one of my favorite layouts that I have done since I started scrapbooking....  This week...it's all about my favorite projects that I have done, my favorite techniques to use, my favorite products I like to scrapbook (and create.....) with, and my favorite blogs and web sites I like to go to!   At the time of making this layout, I wanted to enter it in the Scrapbook Hall of Fame contest which used to be in the Creating Keepsakes Magazine..  However, I had a broken wrist at the time, and I had no clue how I was going to finish up this layout.  With it being my left hand that was broke, I could use it to hold things while I cut with my right hand...I learned to use my Coluzzle Alphabet System during this time period getting the submission ready to go.   I knew with this layout, I wanted it to be something special...like my relationship with Del is.   Though I didn't win the contest, I at least entered!  I...
Are you an event scrapbooker - or an emotion scrapbooker?  I love to scrapbook the events - such as birthdays and holidays, but there is also something very therapeutic about scrapbooking through the hard times too!  Normally I journal by hand, erasing the pencil marks when I am done.  This time, I wanted to showcase the journaling more, so it was done on the computer with white cardstock then matted, using a simple eyelet to coordinate the colors together.  I chose photos that corresponded with the journaling...in this case, I lost my 2nd husband to suicide and my dad 5 years to the day later...3 days after my birthday.  This one event shook me to my very core and really made me who I am today.  The paper I used was from American Crafts 2 sided cardstock collection from quite a few years ago.  I made a quick buckle out of ribbon and a soda pop top embossed in white powder to create a unique look!  I used the extra paper (only the other side) for...

Themed paper - used on something else...(and a bit of a challenge)

I have been with my current husband now for over 10 years...usually on Valentines Day we don't do much of anything... to us, it brings back bad memories from our pasts...so it is better to spend this day as any other would be spent.  So, I used themed paper I already had in a different way...let me explain!  As I was working on my All About Me album, I stumbled across this paper, meant more for Valentines Day.  I used it for my Top 10 because I love to scrapbook as much as I do!     This page can be simply recreated in a Valentines page using photos of you and your spouse, since that holiday is coming up soon...instead of the photos I used of my scrapbook area!  I used a bright - printed background paper, with red, white and pink as the accent colors.  For the tassels on the tags, I added black floss to the other colors to tie it all together.  Sizzix die cuts were used for the hearts and tags, with simple alpha stickers ...
This is one of my favorite layouts of my husband and I...made way before we were even married!  His mom had came down to see us, and ended up taking pictures of us and our kids, 7 of the 8 we had at the time.   I used simple colors, and a simple layout to achieve the look I got!  Lets get started!  Supplies: Cardstock in blue, red, and ivory Alphabet letters Heart punches Buttons Gold embellishments Computer for journaling Directions:  Step one:  Take the ivory cardstock, start the background, trim the red cardstock by 1" on top and side. Place it on top of the ivory sheet using adhesive.  **Tip**  Since you are not going to see the back of the ivory sheet, trim the inside of the sheet to allow you to use that on other items such as the lettering, etc.  Step two:  Take the blue cardstock, trim it 2.5" to go across the top of the two pages, use adhesive to place this down.  Step th...
