It's all about special events the past few days here at Memories in Tyme, showcasing birthday cards, and ways to keep track of the dates in your life that you need to keep track of each month!  Now we are going to showcase Anniversary cards!  Things are hard enough as it is, without having to rush out at the last minute to pick up a card and gift for that special someone in your life.  If you spend time once a month looking at the things you have coming up, then it  won't be so hard on you when the actual event comes around!   Anniversaries are always fun, when you celebrate that special day with your spouse and loved ones.  It isn't always easy to come up with unique ideas for your cards though, look at things others have done, as well as ideas in scrapbooks.  Maybe it's your own anniversary, or your parents'...chances are you want the card to be special to that person especially if you are spending the time to make one in the first place!  Ha...

Card making supplies "must have's"

Making cards and scrapbook pages is not hard at all, just overwhelming with all the stuff available to you...just like scrapbooking is!  If you scrapbook you can make cards and stamp, if you stamp and make cards you can scrapbook!  The fun part of it all is the supplies that both sets of crafts gives you...that can really save you money in the long run!  I started out with stamping, designing my daughters birth announcements out of a Disney stamp, ink pad and colored pencils to color the image in.  From there, it's been all about embossing, using Radiant Pearls paint, and creating fun - one of a kind cards with what I have available to me.  I am showcasing products that are must have's in my book!  In February we are going to start with easy stamping techniques, so you will need to pick up a few "basic" supplies to get started...but remember, you want to pick up things in designs you will use, not just because they look neat.  Ad...

Making handmade cards

Until the end of the year, I will be focusing on making cards.  Making cards can save you a ton of money, especially if you use scraps.  If you look at the month ahead for the upcoming events you have, then you can have a few onhand when you need them, instead of having to spend the time running out and finding the perfect one.  Basic card making is really easy, especially if you scrapbook anyway, you already have alot of supplies that you can use!  I started learning with card making, and then found scrapbooking and what it was used for, which helped me save money!  Cards can be a great way to just make someone's day by saying "thinking of you"...or "thank you" in a way that is unexpected.....  Customize the cards to fit someones personality with their favorite colors and things!     Supplies needed:   Card and envelope (can be found at any craft store in packages) Stamps or die cuts/computer Ribbon and but...

Card Folder Idea

One fun and easy project you can make for your favorite friends or family members is a folder with cards!  This is an easy project to do, being able to customize each of the packets you make for the people on your gift list.  Make a set for your neighbors with birthday cards, or notecards...whatever they would use the most of.  You can make the folder in either 12 x 12 or 8.5 x 11.  If you use the larger size, you will want to trim the sides and bottom to fit the cards you do.  This size is better for larger envelopes.  I use the 8.5 x 11 with the smaller envelopes and cards!  Directions for folder:   Step one:  Take cardstock, place it in front of you so it is length wise.  Fold in half.   Step two:  Unfold the sheet of cardstock, fold the bottom length up about 2" to create a folder type look. Step three:  Unfold again, taking your scissors, you will want to cut a V in the middle on the b...

Card sketch ideas

Ever get stumped for unique card ideas....or just need a way to start?  Try this site Card sketches at Witty Living  to get different ideas for your cards...  Each idea is set up for you to create exactly as the sketch is, or twist it a bit and do something different to it.  Just because they have circle embellishments on the page, doesn't mean you can't use a square shape instead!      This card was originally created by a sketch...I used paper that I loved and had just a little bit left of, and didn't use on another project...  I then took a simple daisy punch, and placed a brad in the middle of it.  This type of card can be recreated using just about any paper or shape that you have available.  Make a quick card when you are making a layout, or other project...  Keep them stashed away in a shoe box that you have altered, or some other type of item!   Card making is really easy, using a few ...

Cricut project ideas

I love cheap and easy, and the Cricut machines, though a little expensive at first, can save you a ton of money depending on the cartridges you purchase and "have to have"!!!!!  I have 8 cartridges so far.....I use specifically 4 of them, and the one that came with the V1 machine, which is George and Basic shapes.  The projects I have made are used with either this cartridge, or the Wall Decor & More cartridge.  I recently started using the Gypsy machine with the V1, and oh boy...this one comes with 2 exclusive cartridges with a font and even more shapes!  So, when I was demoing for a local store, using the George and Basic Shapes cartridge, I made a folder with 4 cards in it...  This is what the result turned out to be:  This is the file folder itself, the top of the folder.  I took a 12 x 12 sheet of paper, trimming off 2" off one of the sides, and then folded a 2" flap on the side I just trimmed, then folding it in half creating a "folder ...
