Altered Cereal Box and Can

I love altered projects - and this project - a great way to create something useful - out of something you would normally throw away!  With this project - it is a cereal box, cut in half to create an awesome organizer!!!   I needed something to hold all of my bigger stuff, like my rulers, paper trimmers - and then smaller sections in front to hold smaller stuff like my scissors, hand held hole punches, and basic tools!   So, lets get started!

Supplies needed for this project:
Cereal box with top not torn
Tape
Adhesive
Xacto knife
Ruler
Paper of your choice
Embellishments of your choice

Supplies I used:
KI Bakery Twine - bought at Walmart
Ribbon from my stash
Sizzix flower die cut, various die's
Flower paper punch, various punch's
Buttons from my stash
Colorbok Snow White paper - bought at Walmart
Colorbok Watercolor paper - bought at Walmart

Directions:
Step one:  Cut the cereal box in half.  Take the top half and tape it closed.
Step two:  Cut the sides on a slant to make the front part a bit smaller in front.  Then cut the front piece from one side to the other.
Step three:  Using your adhesive (I used a glue gun) - glue the front piece to the back piece.
Step four:  Start to cover your base with the paper you have selected.
Step five:  Using scraps of paper that match the colors of the paper you are using - create the flowers, adding a button for the middle.  I used various sizes and shapes of die cuts and flowers.
Step six: Add the ribbon and twine to the top portion of the box making a bow and leaving extra ribbon for the tails.  Glue the knot down with hot glue to keep it stationary.

For the can - simply cover the can and decorate as you did the cereal box.  I had created the can first - and then the cereal box with the Colorbok Watercolor paper later on!  I love how the colors work really well together even though the altered projects were done at different times!
I am working on a few Easter projects - and can't wait to show them to you!  It has been fun having a bit of my creativity back!  Hope you've enjoyed this fun recycled project!
