Reminder

I t's that time again.....time to look at the upcoming events   you have in your life for the next 6 weeks...     Whether you have birthday's, weddings, showers, or fun fall events planned, grab your calendar and start to look at what you need to make, purchase, send off, or what have you!        Our economy really stinks right now, I've been living it for a long time... and learned a few things along the journey until now.  Take time to look at what you have going on so you can get started on things early - instead of at the last minute...  Start to look at the calendar for things you need to deal with until the end of October!  This way, you can start getting things you need to - put together ahead of time, in order to get things completed on time!   My main problem in life - (I am so like my mom) - I procrastinate - and pretty soon, what I "wanted" to do - doesn't get done because...

9-11 Tenth Anniversary Remembrance Blog Hop

Welcome to a blog hop devoted to the remembrance of the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11th.  If you just happened up on my blog, then you can go back to Tami's blog with is the    beginning - you have got to see all the wonderful talent!!!    The terrorist attack against our nation, which happened a decade ago, is a long time for some.  However for many, the day feels all too close. The deeply seared memories of the human sufferings and acts of heroism, which took place on that day, changed our nation. The nation was in shock when terrorists decided to hijack our airplanes and turn them into weapons.  It was beyond anyone’s belief that something so horrific could happen on our own soil.  It would be one thing if it were just the destruction of the Twin Towers or damage to the Pentagon and a field in Shanksville, PA, but almost 3,000 people perished, from the attack, leaving a scar on the sole of America. Americans came together as...

Upromise Dreams Contest

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of UPromise for SocialSpark . All opinions are 100% mine. Upromise is celebrating it's 10th Anniversary with a huge contest right now - talking about your dreams and college!!!!   College is expensive enough, trust me I'm paying for my own education - my parents didn't have the funds to send me to school...it was up to me if I wanted to go or not.  At the time of me graduating high school in 1982, I had no desire to go to school, I wanted to work and party - and that I did!  I worked and partied until I was 21 until I had my first child when I was a single mom.   To say I have struggled is an understatement - college just wasn't in the cards at the time!  Besides, I had no clue what I wanted to do at all, until now!!!   By signing up for Upromise you will get coupons, cash rewards back on purchases spent, dinners out - or traveling even!  Things you would do normally can give your kids a chance to go to a great co...

Making cards -

This is going to be a great week, so make sure you check back often!  Starting tomorrow, I am in a blog hop in Remembrance of 9/11...it's all about cards from Monday till Wednesday...a two day Fall related blog hop on Thursday and Friday...and a wonderful card hop/sketch on Saturday and Sunday!!!  So a fun week of giveaways and blog hops so make sure you join me all week long!!!   I'm a bit behind on a few other giveaways - so if you are expecting something from me - things have been crazy with me in school right now, so bear with me!!!   I am really behind!!!           Cards can be one of the best ways you can save money - by learning to make your own!  I started making cards about 21 years ago, where I discovered rubber stamps and what they could do.  I spent years collecting so many stamps - half of which I have never used!   I started taking a few classes - and shopping from representatives from C...

Alphabet templates - saving money on titles

My main thing when I am scrapbooking, is I want things to match.  Alphabet templates can help you save money - by using them for your titles on your scrapbook pages, on papers that will match your layout - instead of having to run out and find a set of stickers to match!  With the above example, I used pattern paper for the top of the letters, and then matted the letters on a sheet of the pink background paper!  I then cut each letter out individually, making sure to have enough room on each side for the word.  By using alphabet templates, you don't have to worry about not having enough of a certain letter, or running out when you are in the middle of taking care of something!  By using patterned papers that match, or come in a kit - you can be assured to have the perfect matching items for your project!          One thing I like to make sure to use is fine tip scissors - to be able to get into the finer areas ...

Templates and All About Me ideas...what a combo

Different        Alphabet templates can be used in a variety of different ways for your titles, I have shown you a few basic ways this week...today's is kicking it up a bit using brads or eyelets!  For me, I love purchasing 12 x 12 paper, even if I am doing 8.5 x 11 layouts because I can use the extra paper for embellishments or other aspects - "Different" is like that!         I used Chatterbox paper that has a pattern on one side, and the pink on the other side.  On the picture, I used the wavy and square frame from Sizzix and on the right side of the pink frame left it open so I could add tags to it with journaling about ways I am "different" as well as the definition of the word.  For the embellishment, I simply took flowers from the background paper and cut them out to make the little square.  Add your floss and ribbon to the tags, and the flower to the photo.  Now you are ready for the title.  After c...

More alphabet template ideas

If you are just starting out scrapbooking, I would suggest up front that you get some sort of an alphabet template to help save you a bit of money from having to buy stickers all the time!  A die cut machine is a bit costly, especially if you are just starting out scrapbooking in the first place.  An alphabet template can help you get the perfect titles for all of your pages in no time.  This is just another example of some of the layouts I have done using different types of alphabet templates for my layout titles!!!  Find one that you are attracted to that can be easy enough to cut out too!         For this layout, I used the Coluzzle alphabet template which I use for quite a few of the projects I do!  I like how I can cut the letters out that I need and use the rest of the paper for something else.  In this case - I broke down the letters, and matted them in the other colors on the opposite page to make...
