Happy Birthday card

Birthday balloons and presents
This week it is all about birthdays, and on 8/2 we will have a Birthday related blog hop in celebration of my birthday that day!  And I will give a shout out to Joy Kieth...a friend of mine I have known since we have been little girls in the same church in Utah!  I always hated sharing MY day with her when I was a little girl, but now...I feel it an honor to have such a wonderful person that I get to share my day with!  Plus it is my sister Allison's birthday 10 days after mine...in between, we lost my dad on 8/5 and buried him on 8/11...so we both pretty much hate our birthdays!!!  We are going to try to change that this year!!!   For the blog hop - you will have 16 of us sharing birthday related ideas for you...with Anita, Barbara and myself bringing you the rest of the week full of fun ideas and things for you!  I hope you plan on coming to see what we have all been up to!!
Easy birthday card
Cards do not have to take a lot of time...in fact, when you are spending time doing a layout, then do an extra card or two while you have the supplies brought out.  The birthday cards I am sharing are easy to recreate using any kind of balloons or present die cuts you have access to die cut wise.  Learn to use different saying stamps to go with the die cuts you use, a simple present can be anything from a birthday gift to a Christmas card, or even a baby shower invite or card... depending on what event you might have going on at the time.  Also invest in different colored stamp pads (storing upside down for best performance and to last longer) in a smaller size - in colors that you will use a lot of.  This way, when you are working on a specific project, you will have different colored stamp pads to be able to use with the card you are making.  Also keep in mind, you do not need die cuts of presents just to make a cute present.  Cut a square or rectangle shape from your trimmer, as a simple strip to the top of the "package", and add a simple bow punch to the top.  I used all patterned paper, with a simple saying stamp to the card here - adding a very simple bow and button to the top of the card.  I hope you enjoy the day today...and make sure you check back tomorrow for the birthday blog hop!
