Beginner scrapbook layout idea -

When you first start to scrapbook, you need easy ideas to start with - going with a monochromatic color scheme is one of the best things you can do for a beginner!  Use this for any type of cards, or layouts you are planning on!  To do a "monochromatic color scheme"  simply pick a color you want to work with, such as the blue in the layout example above.  You then want to pick three different shades of the color you have chosen - this is where getting a color wheel comes in handy for sure!        Another technique you can do when you are just beginning to scrapbook, is paper tearing - again used on the example above!  I tend to keep everything from other projects - this was left-overs from another 2 page layout spread I had done about having 5 "teens" between my husband and myself!        Journalling is one of the most important things you can do in your layouts - bringing the  important information out to the people reading it.  You want t

For this layout, I used a basic heart theme to show the "love" end of my relationship with Del. I used a basic heart punch with red buttons in the middle of them for the two photo matt's, and added embellishments where it needed. The journaling was all done on the computer, and

Mini ME.....

Me, Mini Me, Casey and Del.....      Mini Me was a fun layout to do - it started with the background paper, and the rest happened from there.   Terra is my mini me...she looks so much like me that everyone I went to school with will say that they know exactly where she came from and who she looks like!  The layout was done a number of years ago, when both of us were in 7th grade...the photo of the 4 of us was done just this year...so you can see how much she resembles me!   Supplies needed:    Mini Me left side 2 sheets of cardstock/paper for the background Patterned paper that coordinates  Scraps of paper Alphabet template Wire Tags Floss  Blue marker for journaling Eyelets or brads Tags Handmade arrow (used wavy template) Directions:   Mini Me right side  Step one:  Separate the background paper to put the items made on them.   Step two:  Start to matt your photos, matting twice to create a neat look.  Add the photo to the proper side. One word one photo challenge

Different.....      For this challenge, I want you to find a photo...it doesn't matter if the photo is older, or current - find a photo!  Then find a word that describes you - I chose "different" because I am different than most people are....I feel different and I am different...        I started with the 1 word title first - I added the definition of "different" and tags with journaling coming out the side of the layout.   Supply list:   1 sheet background paper (I used 12 x 12 Chatterbox paper to be able to use the extra's) Coordinating paper Alphabet template Brads Sizzix frames & tags Floss & ribbon for the tags Button Marker to match Directions:   Step one:  Cut your background paper to 8.5 x 11 (unless you do 12 x 12 albums) putting the extra aside for use later on.   Step two:  From the coordinating paper, die cut the Sizzix frames in both the wave and the square background.  Add your photo to the top of it.  Take the extr

Digital scrapbook projects cheap and easy!

There are many things you can do this year to make this Christmas a good one...just start doing things NOW!  One project I have been working on is my grandma's recipe's...  This album is truly a work from the heart, to be given to my children in a book form for Christmas this year.  As I am done with it - a CD will be sent to my cousins for them to do what they want to with them - whether they make an album themselves, or they can have a book made like mine will be is up to them!   Grandmas recipe album page 3      The software I use is by Daisy Trails called Serif Digital Scrapbook Artist 2 - a product review has been done if you check out this page , just scroll down until you see the title!  They have free kits available, this is all I have used from them...plus you can take a piece from this kit and a piece from that kit and make your own kit!  I would suggest downloading the free software and a few kits to start with, before you purchase the software, but it is

Planning monthly events

It's that time again.....time to look at the upcoming events  you have in your life for the next 6 weeks...  Whether you have birthday's, weddings, showers, or fun summertime events planned, grab your calendar and start to look at what you need to make, purchase, send off, or what have you!        Our economy really stinks right now, I've been living it for a  long time...and learned a few things along the journey until now.  Take time to look at what you have going on so you can get started on things early - instead of at the last minute...  Start to look at  the calendar for things you need to deal with until the end of July!  This way, you can start getting things you need to - put together, in order to get things completed on time.        My main problem in life - (I am so like my mom) - I procrastinate - and pretty soon, what I "wanted" to do - doesn't get done because I didn't spend the time to get things done that I needed to WHEN I COULD.
Scrapbooking can be hard enough at times, especially when you do not have a particular theme to go with the pictures, or it is something that you can't find exact embellishments to match what it is you are wanting to do.  Take one of the last projects I wanted to do for instance.  It was Easter weekend, as well as my moms birthday - so how do you make something that incorporates the two?        Well, this was my take on a project for my sister...for her to document the day's events.  I used an Easter bunny for the Easter theme, and added Easter eggs and a basket or two to go along with it.  I also added presents and balloons to go with the birthday theme, this way both "events" were covered since they did both events at the party!  With each of my albums I make, I always like to incorporate some sort of interactivity with my albums, such as tags, hidden journaling or objects...that type of thing!        This type of album can be bound with ribbon

Themes...being artistic...planning projects

Being artistic really has it's advantages, let me tell you!  My mom is artistic, I get it from her - except she sews, my sister danced when she was little (and better than anyone I ever knew that could dance), and now I "create" paper craft items.  For a while there - I wondered where I belonged, I didn't think I was like much of anyone in my family...yet when we get started talking now, OMG let me tell you, you can sure tell where I fit in and belong!   Mom and I are a lot alike in how we tackle the projects we do - let me explain!!!      There are times when you look at a project, and have no idea how you want to do it, and other times when you know exactly what you want to do.  With me, I first decide the project I am doing, and then the theme of the project - so that the rest comes easier!  I spend a few minutes writing things out on a sheet of paper, so that I know what needs to be done or what I want; this also helps if I have to go back and forth

Life according to YOU.....challenge!

The world according to...........(add your name)!   This was an entirely way fun project I made, of course in a 6 x 6 format!  At the time of making this, I was going to submit it for one of the last Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame contests...but like normal, the time to submit escaped me, instead I will use it on my blog...as a challenge!!!!    Your "challenge" for the week...is to do a layout or mini project ..."The world according to...YOU"!     The size is 6 x 6 - on the left side, I added a strip of paper to allow for the two holes to be punched where the album will be put together.  This part goes underneath the front cover to make it so I can open the pages up in a book fashion.  You don't see the strip of paper, it is only there to hold each of the two pages.    On each of the pages, there is little blurbs...how life should be, according to ME!  Everyone has those little things they have been taught, or how they are...this is just a scrapbook mini
