Sympathy Card Sympathy cards are never any fun to make, given the reason you are making the card in the first place!  I finally found a stamp set I love to use that allows me to create a lot of different cards with one set, including sympathy cards!!!  Stampin' Up is my favorite place to purchase stamps and ink pads as they have quality products, in a ton of themes!!!!  I am sure you will find what you are attracted to, from stamps to ink pads... no matter what company you end up going with!!!   Supplies used: Sympathy stamps Ink pads to match paper used Card w/envelope Various flower die cuts Vine w/leaves die cut Large sun punch Small sun and circle punch Border punch Papers (I used Stampin' Up) As I start my cards, I usually pick out more than enough stuff to create with, supply wise I mean - such as: Papers I want to work with Stamps I want to use for the project Any ink pads to match the papers  If ...

So, I decided at the end of last year, that I wanted to make a few birthday cards to send to my friends and family members on their special days, and have them done BEFORE their day!  However, at the time I want to send them, either I don't have one made, or the time just escaped me to create the perfect one in order to get them in the mail!  Oh and lets be perfectly frank here - I really had an attitude towards some people, so why make a card that isn't appreciated!  (You make them and send them to the ones who DO appreciate it!) When I make a project, I keep on making things until the paper is gone...  The scraps from other projects make different things than the first one, just by using different colors! Today's project - note cards done using the same paper from yesterday, only different colors for the base of the cards!  I love how they turned out!   Each card is different - yet they all match!  Add a saying stamp set, and you can get 4 different cards in no time!  The cost goes down too, when you are using scraps of paper and what you have at home already!  Learn to shop smart, save your scraps from other projects, and simply have fun at creating!   Lynda Jeffs Memories in Tyme    

One of the best buys for me scrapbook wise - was my Sizzix die cut machine, that little red beast is just the BEST thing for me!  I have had the same die cut shapes for the machine, for longer than I can remember...since living in Utah!  I moved to California - and my little beast broke...ended up having a wonderful scrapbook buddy send me 2 of hers!   The two shapes I end up using for tons of things - my presents, and the balloons!  They have saved me more money than I can count - and time from having to cut out individual items!  With the balloons, simply add a stamped saying, or - a rub-on!  I have used black twine for my strings, as well as floss.  I have also used a fine tip black marker, and created the strings in black - being able to customize it a bit easier!  I also used scrap papers for the cards!   With the present die cut - you can see the many times I have used this particular die cut, for birthdays as well as Christmas...

Baby cards - one of those cards you will end up making time and time again, where the same stamp can be used in so many different ways!  You always start with the card base, but the background papers - and the embellishments you use, will go hand in hand with each decision you make!  Notice the same stamp was used in all three cards here - embossed in white.  The blue card below, is more of a simple card creation, versus the other 2 - where we did a lot more intricate work!      As you start out, look at cards that really spark your attention.  What details do they have that you like and want to use on your creation? Another  question you can ask yourself - is who is getting the creation in the first place?  If they tend to throw away what you have spent time making, don't go in to as much details as you would someone who keeps your creation and frames it.     Making handmade cards is fun - and yes, time consuming! ...

When I make cards for people, I don't do it for the glory - I do it because I truly love to make things and create!  I also love to create things people love to receive, displaying them during the time of their "event", or simply keeping them in a special drawer or place!  I love to scrapbook the cards I get, adding them to my pocket pages for birthday's and events, so I can always have it!  As you can tell, I love cards!   One thing about handmade cards, if you use scraps of paper, they turn into one of a kind, simply because you may not have that scrap of paper again.  I also love to use leftovers from other projects - die cuts I didn't use, stickers, or punches even - when adding to my stamps, make quick and easy cards!  This way, the person receiving it - won't be able to find it just anywhere!     **Tip -   If you have a printer, you can always print out different sayings on cardstock with your "Microsoft Office" ty...

Last week we started talking about making your own handmade cards in this post, check it out if you missed it!  I included a very easy card idea using cardstock, scraps of paper and a simple sticker to create a beautiful card!  Each week we will bring you easy card ideas for you to recreate, using basic scrapbook supplies and a few rubber stamps!   Using die cuts, along with rubber stamps or rub-on's, adding your scraps of paper for the backgrounds, will help you create your own style of cards to give to your friends and family, instead of a store bought card.
