My Memories Suite v2 software review

Layout for Big Picture Scrapbooking class I took      A few weeks ago, I was asked to do a review on some digital software called My Memories Suite v2 , I am hooked.....for many reasons!!!   One reason right off - is the ease of use for downloading the software and kits they have.  I downloaded their free kits so I could play with the software itself.  I downloaded all of the free kits, which was enough to make 12 layouts from a class I took at Big Picture Scrapbooking (and very well worth it too)!!!  Another reason is their selection of not only free kits, but kits that are priced at $9.99 and less in tons of different themes as well!         This software is not hard to use or learn, very user friendly in fact!  If you are already familiar with any kind of digital software, then you shouldn't have too much of a problem.  However, it might take you a few days of playing with the software to get used to it's fea...

Christmas reminder

It's that time again - time to take a look at your Christmas planning!!  You have 4 months from today until Christmas - so you really should start to look at the lists and things you have started already, in order to keep it going!  Taking a bit of time now and plan things out - how many cards you need to send, or how many gifts you need to make or purchase, or even parties you need to go to in order to prepare for gifts for the hostess or cooking something - will only help the stress level THEN!!!   If you go and purchase a bit of extra flour, sugar, and baking goods - your finances are not going to take a huge hit closer to that time!!! Plus if you take a bit of extra time now to get things made, you can spend Christmas time in enjoying the season instead of making a bunch of stuff or shopping!!  Try to look at each person, and personalize a special gift you make just for them!  It sure helps that stress level at the end of the year, let me tell you!!...

School album

Front cover Page 2 and 3 Page 4 and 5      It's that wonderful time of the year again, when we send our kids back to school to learn to read, write, and do arithmetic!!!  This year, make a mini album such as this one, to give to your child's teacher for them to document the school year!!! (Or just make it and keep yourself in order to document the fun times in your child's school year!!!)  It can be made with 5 sheets of paper or cardstock, ribbon to bind it, and stickers and such to decorate it all up!!    If you use easy products such as a kit you have bought that coordinates all together, this works perfectly - being able to use up much of the things included in the kit!        The basic directions for my mini albums are in this post - to make it easier for you!  I would look at the individual pages for specifics on how that page was made!   For this album, the supply list is:   20 sheets...

Using scraps for card making

Organizer box - categories for cards      Making cards is a lot of fun - grabbing a quick card pack from a local craft store that has the envelopes and the card bases, add your scraps and leftovers from your layouts - and you instantly have one of a kind handmade cards!!!  Since I have rubber stamped longer than I have scrapbooked, doing both crafts makes it easy when I create, by using leftovers for things like cards, bookmarks, and even paper piecing patterns.  I have things in categories for the cards I make, however, this is my list - feel free to add to it, or change it in any capacity!   Anniversary or wedding Baby Birthday Friendship Get well Just because Notecards Sympathy Thank you Thinking of you Holidays      As I scrapbook - I put the scraps from that project in a small clear plastic drawer - and then when it gets full, I put them in an accordion style file folder separated by color.  As I am creating thin...

Using scraps when you create

Scraps for creating      I lived in Colorado for 7.5 years back in the early 90's...then I moved back home in 1997 to Utah where I discovered what an actual "scrapbook" was.  I was able to take 2 classes after a while, and figured that my stamping supplies would be able to be used on my scrapbook layouts too!   As for keeping each and every piece, it will depend on you - some stuff are great for different things, but normally, I will throw away the smaller scraps.  Now, if you have a die cut machine, and you have scraps left over from that - try to punch a few punch pieces out and place them aside...that way you don't have to keep the whole piece.   Bookmark made from scraps      If you check out this article  that I have on Ezine Articles, you can get even more reasons to save your scraps!!!  For me, this is how I have things organized.  I separate the scraps by color, in an accordion style purse (b...
