I love sketches, and the minute I seen this one from Simply52 Designers, I knew what I had to do with this one, make note-cards in various themes and colors to use for gifts! Add in a nice attractive format such as a folder or tied with raffia, and you have an instant gift for someone that might be hard to buy for, or you just need a hostess gift, or maybe a neighbor gift made in a flash!!!! This sketch will do so much, I can just picture it so many ways, but this was the one that came out the first!!!
Of course the way I am, I end up changing things up a bit, but I absolutely love how the squares looked with the rounded corners. I used a stamp set from Stampin' Up that is very versatile...I enjoy using things that can be used in other ways, and this one certainly is like that!
Supplies needed:
Scraps of paper for the base
Scraps of paper for the 2nd layer
1.5" squares - 3 each card
Ink pad to match the colors you have chosen
Ribbon to match
Embossing ink pad
White embossing powder
Soda pop tab (for the buckle)
Tools used:
Embossing gun
Trimmer
Corner rounder
Trimmer
Glue gun
Scissors
Directions:
Step one: Cut the 2nd layer a bit smaller than your base card. Add adhesive to the card base and add the 2nd layer to the card base.
Step two: Cut 3 squares of white cardstock each 1.5" square. Round the corners for each of the 3 squares.
Step three: Taking your ink pad and stamps, stamp an image stamp on 2 of the squares, and a saying on the final one. Add to the card.
Step four: Using the embossing ink pad, tap your soda pop tab in the ink pad, and then the white powder. Heat and repeat 2-3 times until you get it so you can't really see the silver buckle. Set aside.
Step five: Trim your ribbon, (I used 2 different colors of ribbon) and then thread the ribbon through the buckle. Attach the left side of the ribbon to the card (I used a glue gun) and then add the buckle. Glue the right side of the ribbon down and then trim the edges.
I hope you enjoyed this card, I just can't wait to play with this sketch even more with a layout as well as a few cards! I have a birthday card now in my head that I just have to play with this week, and a few idea for a layout or two as well! Love the idea, and I love digging out my older tools and equipment to play with! Make sure you send us a link to your project!
