My favorite project from the heart.....

My favorite project from the heart.....   would be my Grandma's Recipe's album I am doing right now.   If ever I have ever done a work from the heart, it's this one...  I'm sure everyones Grandma is remarkable...mine was not any different.  When you were around her, she stopped what she was doing to make sure she gave you a hug and a kiss hello!  Even Grandpa - who passed away 20 years ago this June would give you the biggest bear hug you could get!  He was always outside in yard or in the garden when you came over...the yard was always immaculate, like Grandma's house was.  Wow, I really miss them...   A few years ago, I had gotten an album from my sister - a paper album made of Grandma's recipe's.   I will always cherish what Debbie made me, and wanted my kids to have the same thing.  After much prodding, pleading... begging... asking...she sent a copy of her recipe's to me, so I could scrapbook them digitally.   If you look on...

Favorite Frame

I was a dork in school...thick glasses because I am almost legally blind... real skinny, no boobs...you know the drill when you are younger!   As I look back on things now, I was one of the youngest kids in the Class of 82 - I was 17 when I graduated, the youngest of my mom's 5 kids.  After school was through - I didn't go on to college like most everyone else did.  I started working, and pretty much have worked since then - only to go back to school in 2009 for a Graphic Artist type of career.  Since then, being on Facebook, it has made it so I have found most of the people in my life that I wanted to, and a few more!   The original idea for the frame was included in an old Creating Keepsakes magazine, though who knows what issue...we are talking back in like 2004 or 2005 area.  I wanted this layout to be "different...being the youngest child - you don't have a lot of pictures that has been taken of you...so I had to compromise with what I wanted to docum...

More of my favorites

I know...when you look at this layout you go...huh, why would this be one of my favorite's?  Well, this is my dad...dad died 3 days after my birthday on 8/5/04...which happened to be 5 years to the day after my 2nd husband committed suicide.   I miss my dad so much, he protected me, he loved me...he made me feel like I belonged.  Dad would stop and pick up pennies anytime he seen them; so after he died, it is fitting us kids would find pennies - always shiny pennies...these are the pennies I found over the years since he has died...kept in a clear envelope.   It is one of my favorite's because of the theme of the layout, why it was done in the first place.  Some of my favorite layouts are done without any specific theme, like this one.   My dad was not perfect, by any means...but you know, he was my dad.  He was a part of the Lions Organization...he had 5 beautiful children, and from there...he has had 14 grandchildren (with a few step-grandchildren...

It's my favorites week!!!!

A kiss to build a dream on.. .this happens to be one of my favorite layouts that I have done since I started scrapbooking....  This week...it's all about my favorite projects that I have done, my favorite techniques to use, my favorite products I like to scrapbook (and create.....) with, and my favorite blogs and web sites I like to go to!   At the time of making this layout, I wanted to enter it in the Scrapbook Hall of Fame contest which used to be in the Creating Keepsakes Magazine..  However, I had a broken wrist at the time, and I had no clue how I was going to finish up this layout.  With it being my left hand that was broke, I could use it to hold things while I cut with my right hand...I learned to use my Coluzzle Alphabet System during this time period getting the submission ready to go.   I knew with this layout, I wanted it to be something special...like my relationship with Del is.   Though I didn't win the contest, I at least entered!  I...

A few of my favorite things....

Oprah has her favorite things and so do I, this week at Memories in Tyme, will be all about my favorites.....  My favorite projects that I have done...my favorite products I like to work with...my favorite layouts and cards.....my favorite techniques that I like....and my favorite blogs and sites that I like...   We all have our personal favorite's, things that we just can't scrapbook without.  My "list" will be a bit unique I am sure, as I like to use more basic supplies to create other things.  Things like die cuts, punches, adding a bit of ribbon and brads to it if it needs it!  Things that look very well together, and can go with other things too.   To start out with...this is one of my favorite cards I have made...I love the colors used, a simple white embossed saying with the white floss and button.  It was the patterned paper that made it for me, but alone...it wasn't anything spectacular!  The colors just matched well, and it was just f...

Friday Weekend Challenge.....

Wow, it has been one heck of a ride the past few years, let me tell you...not only in my scrapbooking, but in my personal life.  I started school in January, 2009 - at first to be a graphic artist in order to learn the program Photo Shop.  I wanted to be able to create my own paper line eventually...as school was finished anyway.  My dreams were huge, I just wanted to create...   Flash forward 2 years later...my general education classes are done...now working on my "degree" classes.  My degree went from a Graphic Artist, to Multimedia Design and Development to include web design, blog designs, graphic artist, and game designer if I wanted to...  My dreams went from just wanting to design my own paper line, to wanting to design web sites and blogs for people...oh, and if I can do the "dream" of my own paper line sometime, well, I can handle that too!   I went from a tried and true paper scrapper to trying digital projects and loving it.  I am ...

Making memories this summer...OUTSIDE!!!!!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pier 1 for SocialSpark . All opinions are 100% mine. Memories in Tyme is all about your scrapbooking your memories, but this time, it's all about CREATING THEM!   I stumbled upon Pier 1  as I was looking for fun colors to scrapbook with, little did I know this would get me so much more!!!!  This fun site had me spending hours planning out how I want to make my patio area at my house into something beautiful!  My husband and I moved to Colorado about 3.5 years ago from Utah.  We left in a trailer and our F150 - so we are still trying to purchase things that we need to that was old and left behind!    Pier 1 has it so that some of the furniture we found can be used both indoors or outside, so when you are tired of something in one area, you could move it to another place in your home to create a "different look" to it!   It's all about saving money, even if you have to spend a bit to save i...

Carolyn's Legacy...

Front cover It's been a while since I really got along with my family... not that I don't love them, because I do...we all just had "life happen"!  I've started this album I'm not sure how many times, to only put it back down and not finish it up, at the time I wasn't ready for it.  However, Mom's birthday is this coming up Saturday...the day before Easter, and she will be at my sisters house to celebrate her birthday!  This album was made with lots of love for her on her special day, to show her that her children love her!  It is designed so that each of her children can add their own favorite memories on, so mom and all of us can always remember the fun times of our life, not the bad!  page 2 page 3 My mom sews better than I have seen anyone sew.  She has made over 35 wedding dresses hers was the first...she sews blessing dresses (Christening gowns for those who don't know the lingo) like you wouldn't believe...and has more clie...

Life according to YOU.....challenge!

The world according to...........(add your name)!   This was an entirely way fun project I made, of course in a 6 x 6 format!  At the time of making this, I was going to submit it for one of the last Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame contests...but like normal, the time to submit escaped me, instead I will use it on my blog...as a challenge!!!!    Your "challenge" for the week...is to do a layout or mini project ..."The world according to...YOU"!     The size is 6 x 6 - on the left side, I added a strip of paper to allow for the two holes to be punched where the album will be put together.  This part goes underneath the front cover to make it so I can open the pages up in a book fashion.  You don't see the strip of paper, it is only there to hold each of the two pages.    On each of the pages, there is little blurbs...how life should be, according to ME!  Everyone has ...

Spring

Spring is finally here, things are starting to turn green, the trees are starting to have buds on them that will soon turn into leaves.  The birds are back, the squirrls are always around...and in our area, we even have a family of fox that live close by!   You can tell everyone in our complex is starting to get their porches looking nice, spending more time outside is more prevalent, especially when the weather is nice and warm.   Here in Colorado, it feels warmer than it really is...even in 60 degree weather, it still feels nice and warm outside!    This layout reflects those nice spring days, where the flowers are starting to bloom and look pretty, and there might be a little cloud or two floating by!  This two page spread can be tweaked for just about anything, or simply add the title of your choice somewhere on the clouds.    Supplies used: Cardstock - 2 sheets blue cardstock for the ba...

Lets go fly a kite......with a challenge!!!

Kite Flying left side As you start to scrapbook , one of the first things I would purchase is a simple color wheel.  Mine was bought at least 11 years ago...but it is one of the most important things I use when I create my scrapbooks and cards!  The color wheel is helpful when planning what colors might go with another one, or what you might need to add to one color to make it a bit more balanced!  This layout example is a Triad color scheme, using blue, red and yellow; if would have used blue and orange, that would be a complimentary color scheme, or using all shades of blue would be a monochromatic color scheme.  This little tool is especially helpful as you are planning a layout or project, looking at what you have available to you in order to pick the right colors for the project.  A lot of my best projects have been made from using the color wheel first!   K...
Front and back cover Easter..... what a fun time of year, spring is starting - there is just a breath of fresh air, and things are starting to turn green and pretty!   To me, Easter starts the time when you spend a lot of time outside or with families!  This is a very easy project you can do before then - adding your pictures to it, and a bit of journaling about the event itself!   Or make a few for your family members, for them to put photos in as well, this way everyone starts to showcase fun times in their families lives - even if they don't scrapbook themselves.   Pages 2 and 3 Pages 4 and 5 Supplies needed:                                          5 sheets of 12 x 12 cardstock Cardstock for matting photos Sticker sheet in Easter theme Brads Ribbon Buttons Hole punch Pages 6 and 7 Pages 8 and 9 Directions:  Step one:   Take the 12 x ...
