Fathers Day

All Star Dad left side
Fathers Day is this coming up weekend...around my house, it's just another day, though quite a few years ago, it was fun as heck to have 7 of the 8 kids with us celebrating one event or another.  My kids would usually be sent to California each summer to be with their dad...I would get a summertime with Del and usually Ryan, my oldest.  One particular year, we were able to see Del's kids for Fathers Day - this is the layout that followed from the pictures we were able to take that day.
With this layout, it all just came together starting with the papers  I selected to use.  Starting with the star paper, it had the two different shades of blue - so this is what I started with when picking out the rest of my colors.  I only wanted a little bit of an accent color, this is where the yellow came in.  When adding a bit of color, you can always punch small shapes to add to the layout in different places, such as the letters, or punch shapes.

The photos were matted with a patterned paper and then a solid paper.  For the left side layout, it included a pocket made with the darker blue color like the star paper....with the pocket holding the cards Del received that year.  Because of the title, that was the reason for the stars used as the embellishments...  The tags had tassels made using matching colors - part of the title on the bottom border of the right side of the layout.

It is a fairly simple layout to recreate, using any colors, theme, or title even!  I know for me - having these pictures to showcase the time he was able to spend with his kids - means the world to him...but like every divorced father - he has gotten little time with his kids because of one thing or another.  It is layouts like this that truly make it so you can still have a piece of things that you can't have now.  Thanks for reading - I've been on vacation for the past few days...
