Family Ties

Family Ties - being a family nowadays does not have anything to do with the biological parents living in the same house - and if you do have that - you are lucky.  A lot of families are blending kids - much like Del and I are.  Together we have Ryan 25, Megan almost 25, Jesse 24, Cody 23, Terra 20.5, Cheryl almost 20, Casey 18.5 and Krystal is 18...to date, we Del has 5 grandkids with 1 on the way, my kids don't have any kids yet.  Del and I each had Ryan and Megan when we were single...not marrying the other parent.  Then we both went on to get married to other people - and to have other kids.
Sometimes it's not about taking a bunch of pictures at the fun events such as birthday parties or holidays - though that is always fun too.  It's about taking photos of day to day events, and scrapbook them with just as much meaning as you do the parties and holidays. I didn't do any journaling on the above layout - though if I had done it different now, I would have added more journaling about the kids themselves.
Our youngest two children graduated high school - one already, and one on 6/9...  I will be there with my son, and in the next few months, you will see projects and layouts, and framed pages and whatever - all made from the pictures taken this weekend.  I will see 2 friends - one I grew up with and have known since I was 3, and another that I have been friends with since high school.  I get to see my son, my daughter...and for the first time in 3.5 years - I get to see my mom and sister.  Though the trip will be "interesting" being around the father of my children and his family - in HIS home...it will also be fun and in a sense HEALING.
Summertime is here - warmth, sunshine, spending time outdoors...enjoy this time of year, and create lots and lots of projects from the photos that you have taken!

  1. It's a nice layout. I don't always journal on my pages. Sometimes a quote or a short thought. I usually tell the story on the front cover of my scrapbook, followed with some highlights throughout my pages. I don't know how I found your blog, but glad I did! :) I'm now a follower.
