Stamping on your layouts - have you tried it yet? This layout is done using a bit harder techniques, such as stamping, paper piecing, and using punches to create a certain look and feel.
I am one to like bright colors - so in this layout, I wanted to use the pinks from the Barbie packaging... The layout turned out cute as anything - I can't wait to recreate using a different set of colors!

Directions:
Step one: Matt the photos you have chosen for the layout, using 2 sets of colors. I used pink and white for my selection - use what colors match your photos.
Step two: Using the scraps of paper and the template for the large balloon, make 3 balloons - two in patterned papers, one in white. For the white balloon, I used a few different punch pieces that are smaller in size - you can use small stickers if you have something that matches what colors you are using. Stamp a Happy Birthday saying to the white balloon somewhere. Add the floss for the string that comes out of the bottom of the balloon, and a punched bow piece to the bottom of it all.
Step three: For the tags, I used a rubber stamp and then cut it out - using the stamp part on the back of the top paper so you don't really see it. You can use a template of your choice, find one that you can trace the shape out, or purchase a pack already ready to use. Matt the shape using white cardstock, make a hole at the top for the floss to go through, add that while you can.
Step four: Using the examples above, you will create 4 tags, each a different "theme".... Using the balloon punch, cut out 4 shapes in different colors, adding string to the bottoms and a bow attaching it all together.
Step five: Using the trimmer cut 2 small shapes that look like presents, adding a bow and small strip (to look like ribbon) to the top to create a "present", make an extra one for the 4th tag.
Step six: For the third tag, you will need the heart, cloud, and circle punch. First cut the heart punch cut in half, using small cloud punches for the brim (about 2-3 each hat) and a small circle punch for the top of the hat. Make an extra one for the last tag.
Step seven: For this last tag, start with a flesh colored circle punch, then make another circle punch in a patterned paper that matches...cut in half. Cut 2 flesh colored cloud pieces for the hands, the sun punch is for the hair piece, cut that one in half. Start to put it all together using the example above, put the hair and hat on, add chalk to the cheeks, a smile, eyes...then add the present and the "hands" like they are holding it. Add a Happy Birthday stamp here (I used a smaller stamp than the border) at the top right by the floss.
Step eight: Using the border template you have selected, cut the border about 2.5" or so along the side of the paper, depending on what you want it to look like. You can always try 3" and cut the border on the side if you would like it smaller, but you can't add to it if you make it too small! Using the stamps and embossing ink - stamp balloons in various places, then the present and confetti. Add the Happy Birthday saying - then emboss in white. Using the light box, flip the border over - all you will see is the embossed images. Using your markers, color in the images that you see in different colors that match the colors you have selected. Choose darker shades so it will show up.
Step nine: Add the journaling you need, either done on the computer or by hand to the creation. I used two small journaling pieces on the spread.
Step ten: Put it all together using the example shown above!
This is a bit harder layout to do if you are just starting out, especially the punched pieces on the tags...but if you are a bit more experience, then you certainly can have fun with this layout!
Thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoy!
