As you can tell, I love to make cards... my ideas are varied, from very detailed - using paints, embossing powders, chalks - down to very easy, using die cuts and a simple stamp (or not...) to create a look that you won't find going to the stores! I am all about unique and cheap!
I use my Sizzix die cuts a lot - especially since I don't have any other type of machine of my own at the moment. Since I am all about saving money - this particular die cut allows me to be creative while saving money. I added a simple saying to the top - I used Thanks, but you could use just about anything! Add the flowers and green stems and leaves to it, with buttons on top...this way you can customize the inside of the card to whatever you need to!
This card is done using the same die cut - again! I also used a paper trimmer to make the stems, and cut a heart punch in half for the leaves. All the papers matched together, again a simple notecard to be able to customize the inside of the card, or add a specific saying for that person! I used scraps to make this particular card, to make it more cost effective!
For this card, I used a different Sizzix die cut - you will see different examples using it...just so you can see the versatility of using a die cut machine! I used both the outside and inside of the die cut, only separating them to create visual interest. I used a strip of brown left over from another project I was doing...and the leftover piece from that same project! (Check out the project here...) That project was a framed page, I used the leftover part from the frame on the inside so I didn't waste any paper.
I used the same heart die cut again in this card, the framed card on the bottom. I used a gold metallic paper, with pink and cream for a wedding invite. Picture a photo on the inside of the frame, with the information about the wedding on top. The top card was made with just the colors, as a way to customize it more with a simple Thank You, or smaller photo added if you want.
Cards are really a lot of fun to do, especially when you have things already for your scrapbooks! Look at die cuts or punches that are versatile, so you can get more uses out of them. Instead of purchasing an egg shaped punch in a larger size, I noticed the only difference between a balloon and egg shape was the tail on the bottom! I purchased the balloon punch instead and just cut the tails off when I need to use it as an egg such as for Easter. I use the balloon punch more than I would the egg shape, plus I can just spend a moment or two tweaking them to what I need to! I look at the versatility of the punch or die cut and the price, if I will use it over and over - it is a great purchase!
Thank you once again for visiting - I enjoy bringing this to you as often as I can! I am trying to get on a schedule, am in school right now so I am finding that time is precious! I do hope you spend time on YOUR memories, YOUR photos, YOUR life along with your families! Challenges and ideas will be coming up on your All About Me album!
