When you first start to scrapbook, you need easy ideas to start with - going with a monochromatic color scheme is one of the best things you can do for a beginner! Use this for any type of cards, or layouts you are planning on! To do a "monochromatic color scheme" simply pick a color you want to work with, such as the blue in the layout example above. You then want to pick three different shades of the color you have chosen - this is where getting a color wheel comes in handy for sure!
Another technique you can do when you are just beginning to scrapbook, is paper tearing - again used on the example above! I tend to keep everything from other projects - this was left-overs from another 2 page layout spread I had done about having 5 "teens" between my husband and myself!
Journalling is one of the most important things you can do in your layouts - bringing the important information out to the people reading it. You want to explain the simple things, and answer the who, what, why, where, when or how's of the chosen photos. My journalling in this layout was done with a pencil, eraser, and black Zig brand marker - my only brand for scrapbooking and stamping! If it's not Zig, I don't use it!!!! I start my journalling on a separate piece of paper than the item I am scrapbooking, in order to make sure I have enough space. I then add it lightly to the item I am scrapbooking, and then go over it with the marker. After it has dried - I make sure to erase any of the lines you can see from my pencil marks and my lines for the sentences!
This entire layout is a great beginner layout for you to recreate! Make sure you share with me what you have done!
