Sometimes it's not about using the newest supplies out on the market - really, is anyone that is receiving it going to look at it and say to you, "oh, you didn't use the latest supplies" when you made that!!! Really, it's about the reason you are making the card and sending it out in the first place.
I love using pinks and browns together, and with this card, I used an ivory card base, with the pink scraps for the base of the card. Simple paper tearing for one of the background papers, adding the heart die cuts to finish it off. The inside can either have a simple saying, or left blank in order to customize it to the person you are giving it to. With this type of card, you can use just about any color for the background paper, as well as something different for the hearts as well.
With this 2 page spread, I used traditional "love" themed paper and embellishments on a not so "love" type of layout! It just goes to show, you really don't need to use specific themed items for just that theme! This layout was done for my All About Me album, so it didn't matter what I would have used "normally", it mattered what I wanted to use! I had purchased a bunch of supplies, and when I was forced to use them, this is what kind of things came out! You can see I used the same heart for the top card, as I used for the tags in the layouts!
Like I said, people are not going to look at our layouts and say to us "you used old supplies"...they are going to look at the reason for the layout in the first place, the reason they got the card in the first place! If you take some time to make it special - no matter what supplies and paper you are going to use - future generations will marvel at what you've made!
