Alphabet templates - saving money on titles

My main thing when I am scrapbooking, is I want things to match.  Alphabet templates can help you save money - by using them for your titles on your scrapbook pages, on papers that will match your layout - instead of having to run out and find a set of stickers to match!  With the above example, I used pattern paper for the top of the letters, and then matted the letters on a sheet of the pink background paper!  I then cut each letter out individually, making sure to have enough room on each side for the word.  By using alphabet templates, you don't have to worry about not having enough of a certain letter, or running out when you are in the middle of taking care of something!  By using patterned papers that match, or come in a kit - you can be assured to have the perfect matching items for your project!

One thing I like to make sure to use is fine tip scissors - to be able to get into the finer areas of your letters!  You can never have enough scissors, but a fine tip pair is especially necessary when you are cutting out small things like letters!!!  Something you can do to add even more visual interest, is grab a mini punch, and punch out pieces to put on the letters such as the layout on the side here!  With this title, I added the letters together and then cut them out as one word instead of separating them like I did in my Favorite Things layout.  I then used a simple flower mini punch to match the larger flower punch I used for the embellishments on the layout - to give it a consistent look and feel.
Not only are there alphabet templates, you do have other types of templates as well.  Find the ones you are most attracted to - that will save you the most money!  I love being able to grab a quick template, use a pencil and trace the shape out, and then cut it out to match the layout you are doing.  Another easy thing you can do - is make your own template, using a thin sheet of plastic and a friends die cut machine...simply cut the letters out, and you will have them on the plastic to use when you need to!   Or, if you get a perfect tag you like (or someone else might have), trace the shape on a sheet of paper, that way you can cut it out from that template, in order to be able to use that style of items again.  At least for the moment this is a perfect way to save money - before you start to purchase a die cut machine that can cut the shapes out for you!
I hope you have enjoyed this week of alphabet templates!  I have enjoyed bringing you different ideas for using templates!  When you first start out it is a great way to save a bit of money on this expensive craft!!!
