Making scrapbook projects doesn't have to take an album, there are times, where you might want to make a smaller project such as this mini album! Things I want to do in life....heal from a bad childhood and past, go camping again, read lots of books, have my own scrapbook room, and spend time with my family. Little things in life that mean a lot to me as a person but needing to be put down on paper for future generations. Sometimes it isn't the birthdays you scrap, but the moments or feelings instead! One thing I did not do in this album was to put the date down...please at least put the year you did it, even if it is on the last page in the corner!
When I started the mini album, I took a half sheet of 12 x 12 paper and folded it in half to create the front and back covers, such as the picture above, and here. One thing about the back, it is plain, the only thing included is my name stamp and the designed by stamp I use on the backs of my cards as well. This way, people know that something was hand made by you personally...they might be more inclined to keep the card than throw them away because you made it. The back of the creation is just as important as the front is if you ask me, at times you want to bling it up, other times, you want to just leave it plain, such as here.
Basic supply list:
12 x 12 sheet of paper or cardstock
White cardstock 2 sheets
Cardstock/paper to match the paper you are using for the front cover for matting purposes
Various embellishments for the inside
Alphabets stamps or letters to create your title
Ribbon and floss to create the ribbon binding
Hole punch to create the holes for the binding
Directions:
Step one: Take the 12 x 12 paper, cut in half and then fold in half to create the front and back cover, place aside for step two.
Step two: Take the two sheets of white cardstock, trim the long side 2.75", making it a little bit less than 6" wide x 11" long, fold this in half and place inside the cover to create your book.
Step three: Take a hole punch, and punch 2 holes in to create the binding. I took my punch, placed it at the top of my paper by the fold, and punched the hole...then turning it around and doing the same thing on the other side.
Step four: Start to create the front cover with the alphabet you have chosen.
Step five: Start to create the journaling for the album. I used computer generated, with a fun pink font color to match. Use whatever you want to match what you are doing, or use a simple black marker and your own hand writing if you'd rather. Matt the journaling in a color that will match with what you are working on.
Step six: Matt the photos you are using with the album. I used white, and then a color on each of the photos I did. Some of the pages have photos and some do not.
Step seven: Using your adhesive of choice, start to put the album together. I used each of the pages, including the front and back cover, which makes 10 pages total to create this album.
Step eight: Using the ribbon and floss you have selected, from the top of the album, feed them through to the underneath side and back up the other side. Make sure you leave enough strings to create a bow for the top part.
This style of album is not only easy to make, you can twist it up using any supplies, any theme, or any colors you would want to. I will be creating one that is this same style, just using different colors and supplies for a new baby that was born recently! I can't wait to share it with you all, and for the new mom to see it! I sure hope you enjoy the projects I make....please share with me YOUR creations made out of something I have inspired you to do! It's not just about MY ideas, it's all about YOU too! If you have a blog where you share ideas, please send me the link for me to share with my readers! Have a great day creating!
