Monochromatic color scheme

One layout that is very easy to create is a monochromatic color scheme layout, which is different shades of one color.  In this layout, I used a lot of paper tearing and a mosaic effect to recreate this darling layout titled Teenage Attitude.....with pictures of all 5 of the teenagers we had at the time.   In the top left layout, top picture is my son Ryan, next is Del's daughter Megan, and on the bottom is Del's son Jesse...  On the right picture is Del's son Cody, and my daughter Terra...  by that next August we added another "teen", but the older ones turned 20, so we didn't have as many "teens"!
The layout itself can be recreated in just about any color, or any type of pictures and theme you would like.  The hardest part in it was the paper tearing for each of the embellishments I used, but it also was a lot of fun to do too.

Directions:
Step one:  Starting with the colors you have chose, decide what color will be for the background, and what will be for the accent colors.  Start to tear small pieces of cardstock to go on the creations.
Step two:  Taking your background cardstock, decide what you are going to do.  I used 2 squares cut in half and a tag. Glue each piece on the shape you are working on, cut the squares from one corner to the opposite corner to create the corner pieces.
Step three:  Using the alphabet template of your choice, cut out the alphabet letters.  I personally used the Coluzzle template in this example, though you can use just about anything.  Glue each piece on the letters, trimming any excess off with a pair of fine tip scissors.
Step four:  Paper tear a piece of cardstock that will go across the top of the page.  Make sure you have enough room to put the alphabet on the top.  I used 2 sheets of coordinating paper for this, tearing on both sides on each of the sheets.
Step five:  Matt your photos using the coordinating colors.  For my 2 kids, I used a lighter color, for Del's kids, I used a darker color.  Look at the photos you are using, experiment with the matt's, do you need to double matt it, or is single matting ok?
Step six:  Start to put the layout down on the main background sheet.  Using the saying stickers, start to put the stickers on the photos.

Challenge for you:  Try to recreate this type of layout in a non-monochromatic color scheme...  Green and red, silver and blue, or anything you can think of.  I loved using the mosaic embellishments on this layout...and will certainly be finding different ways to use it in my upcoming crafting!  Try this look on a card, bookmark, or altered item you are planning on making, and share with me what you have done at LyndaJinco@gmail.com!  I will be showcasing your creations in upcoming blogs!
