Making handmade cards

Until the end of the year, I will be focusing on making cards.  Making cards can save you a ton of money, especially if you use scraps.  If you look at the month ahead for the upcoming events you have, then you can have a few onhand when you need them, instead of having to spend the time running out and finding the perfect one.  Basic card making is really easy, especially if you scrapbook anyway, you already have alot of supplies that you can use!  I started learning with card making, and then found scrapbooking and what it was used for, which helped me save money!  Cards can be a great way to just make someone's day by saying "thinking of you"...or "thank you" in a way that is unexpected.....  Customize the cards to fit someones personality with their favorite colors and things!

Supplies needed:
Card and envelope (can be found at any craft store in packages)
Stamps or die cuts/computer
Ribbon and buttons
Whatever other embellishments you want to use
Scraps of paper

Basic card directions:
Step one:  Determine the card you need to make, pick out the items necessary to finish the project.
Step two:  Decide if your card is going to be taller, or wider, and plan the card from there.
Step three:  Using the scraps of paper, start to make the base of the card, matt it once or twice with cardstock and or paper scraps.
Step four:  Start to embellish and put the saying on the card.
Step five:  Finish the card up with ribbon and buttons such as the idea on the top.

One thing to keep in mind with making cards, you don't need to purchase a ton of stamps to be able to make cards.  If you have small alpha stickers, die cuts, a computer....or if you have great handwriting, learn to make the "sayings" yourself.  This way each card you do make is perfect for the person you are giving it to.

Cards are fun, being able to send someone a handmade card, and seeing the light in their eyes shine is priceless!  Each day, I will give you another few cards until the end of the year!   Your challenge is to start to look at the events in January, such as birthdays, Thank You cards sent to loved ones for Christmas gifts...or just Thinking of you cards to someone who just needs a bit of love and attention, start to get your supplies ready, and the plans made for what cards you would like to send out!

I hope you enjoy making cards like I do!  This year, I plan on making what cards I need for the next month the month before!  I have a little adopted Grandson's 1st birthday this next month, and I plan on sending some loved ones a card each month...to just let them know I am thinking about them.  If I spend a bit of time one day, I will have the cards I need for this month, making more as time goes by!
