Randomness

Growing up - and when I lived closer to family, we would spend every holiday "as a family".  It didn't matter what it was - from Christmas to Easter to summertime barbeques - we did it!  Then life happened, attitudes happened - and I pretty much "left the family" you might say.  I still talk to a few of my family members, but I'm not near as close as I was when I was younger - LBK (life before kids).  Now, I don't do the whole "family" event kind of thing, so my layouts and projects will reflect that.  Plus you can go to multiple sites and get "exact" project ideas...I like to give you more broader challenges to get your creativity sparked!   I am glad this year is almost done...it's been a challenging one, but that's what happens when you have to rebuild your life!  I look back on my posts - (or lack thereof) and see how tired I have been!  I have had no energy to create for anyone...or for any reason, just way too much goin...

Christmas Challenge - Week 3

Christmas Paper Bag Album Hello everyone!  I am really excited to bring you these challenges each week, as it will get us that much closer to January when we actually start to work on the projects!   How are you doing so far?  Are you completing the other challenges - do you know what you are going to do yet?   Don't worry if your layouts turn in to an entire album, you do take a lot of pictures of events through the month!  Just decide what will work best for YOU and your personal style!   Start small if you are just learning how to create!  Don't overwhelm yourself thinking you have to have a "perfect" finished project - when you are just starting out!   When you are just starting out, working on Christmas photos - in which you end up having a lot - and you do it year after year, is one of the best things to help you learn!   Use what you have first before you go shopping!  Try to print off freebies off the inte...

Monthly Event Challenge

I'm all for getting organized and getting your projects done EARLY - instead of at the last minute like I always do!  So basically - this is more of a reminder for this ole' girl than anyone or anything else!  I just figured since I have such an issue, others probably do too, so here's a reminder to get your calendar looked at until the end of January!!!   Holiday's - I know for me it's Christmas, but there are plenty of other holiday's this month and next!   Birthday's, anniversaries, weddings, or Bridal or Baby showers coming up Parties of all kinds - holiday as well as New Years celebrations For me - here's my list of things to work on:  Start to work on birthday cards for December and January birthday's. Finish up Christmas presents to get in the mail. Work on resolutions/intentions project for new year. Work on examples and products to sell.   Thinking of you cards for the kids to get in the mail. My list is varied right now ...

Christmas Challenge Week 2

A Challenge or Two

This is my "baby girl", when she was a baby that is!  She's now 23 - and absolutely the best daughter I could ask for.  Oh it wasn't me who changed HER life...it was her that changed mine and why I am the way I am!  My first project ever in paper crafting was her birth announcements, made out of a Disney stamp and cardstock!  My love for paper crafting started with this one little project!   Since then, I have scrapbooked who knows how many mini albums, scrapbooks and individual pages for not only my kids, but also for plenty of others!  I learned - through creating - how to heal my emotions, using it for therapy instead of a therapist!  Now I know enough to know when to say "I need a therapist"!   Honestly, I haven't created...or been able to create for months now.  Between drama going on with "family", and trying to finish up rebuilding our lives...I think creatively I am at enough...   So, bear with me while I get...

My First "Must Have" Product

My absolute - all time favorite product to scrapbook and make cards with - is the Cricut Machine for multiple reasons!   Click here for Cricut's 12 Days of Christmas deals!   If you happen to do either scrapbooks or cards, this little machine will do so many things for you!  Add to that if you happen to have kids, teach either school, preschool or church at all, or if you do crafts...this one little machine can do all your cutting for intricate shapes and letters!  Use it for customized titles, making one of the letters be larger than the rest is, or cut out a shape to put on a card, stamping the saying on the die cut.      You can cut paper, fabric, chip board, magnet board... in order to create your own one of a kind creations!  This one machine - though a little bit more costly - will honestly save you money in no time with the images you can cut out with the cartridges you can buy.  When it comes to creating, I pick up cartr...

Christmas Challenge for December Week 1

This month is Christmas as we all know - that time where we take a ton of pictures for different events going on throughout the month!!!  During the month of January we are going to be working on our Christmas layouts (or projects) - this month...doing more research and purchasing of supplies, than making of the layouts or projects!  Making layouts is not all that difficult if you already make cards...  You use the same supplies - and often times, your stamps can make the cutest one of a kind embellishments, versus purchasing stuff!!!  For me, basic cardstock and papers have been the best thing I could have stocked up on, and still keep on using, along with basic supplies like stamps and punches!   Each week you will have a different set of challenges to get you started, links to digital scrapbook software you can try, fun products that I would recommend...and much more!  All designed to get everything you want to go with your proj...

Card Portfolio - Christmas Gift Idea

Front Cover - For those of you who make cards - I hope you will love this particular idea!  If you don't...the ideas are easy enough to recreate if you have a printer, a few fonts, and some sayings!  Add themed die cuts, stamps, punches, and other embellishments to create your own card packs!  So, lets get started on today's idea - my 4 pack of cards in a folder!  This is the front cover - which is an 8.5 x 11 sheet of cardstock turned the landscape way, fold 2" up, and then fold in half to create your folder!  Inside folder On the left and right sides, you will want to add your adhesive of choice  to keep the sides down.  The inside is for the cards, not necessarily to decorate - but you could do something fun with a bit of stamping techniques if you wanted to!   With the cards, I did 4 different themes, but keeping with the whole heart theme - I created he 4 cards you see below!  I used scraps for everything - except the full...

Gift Idea's For You To Recreate -

I am really excited for today's idea - made out of an old manilla file folder!  I decided to start a couple of others, but change them around a bit to match the people I am making them for.  This one is for my kitchen, to keep track of my shopping list, coupons, phone numbers - things like that!   The original idea was found on Pinterest - which also comes with the instructions on how to make it!    The next ones I am making - will be for them to use as they need, and I will add a gift card for each slot, for them to spend and use as they want!  I loved the original idea, but really am glad my turned out as I wanted it to!  I really love the pockets here for sure!     Supplies I used:   Old manilla file folder 3-6 sheets patterned paper Ribbon Basket stamp (or die cut) Flower die cuts or punches Buttons and brads Scraps of paper Printer  White printer paper Brown ink pad The directions on the link ...

Struggling Through the Non-creative Times

I am a creative person - wake up with layouts and projects in my head from things I want to make...until lately.  Now, I just can't create for anything....t here is way too much going on in my life, making it so that I can't create in the first place - which seriously - I don't need right now!  So, how do you struggle through those times in your life when you aren't as creative as you normally are?  Here are just a few tips that have helped me out: Pinterest is a great place to start if you need some fun inspiration for all aspects of your life!  I have all kinds of different boards for scrapbooking, card making, decorating my house, colors I want to work with...you get the idea!  You can follow me by clicking on the link!   Magazines and idea books that you have, but you never actually use them - or go to the library to check out some fun books there if you are on a budget!  Make sure to check with your friends who live by you that scrapbook ...

Being Grateful Challenges

This month is a month to be grateful for what you have.  There are times, especially with my past - I don't feel too "grateful" let me tell you!  Then I have to look at things in such a different manor than I did before.  Being grateful doesn't come easy - I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way!  What about you?   Do you dread Thanksgiving time because it represents something you might not have...like a family?  Or has life given you more than your fair share of things to cause you to feel this way - like me?  Well, it's time you change that now isn't it!!!  It's time you look at what you do have, and not what you don't...   My "Being Grateful" album - was done a while ago...I wanted a place to document what I might be grateful for...my intentions with it - was to document something for each day of the month of November - and put it in an album...this year, I didn't feel so grateful for some reason...  So, your chal...

Getting Ready To Make Cards -

I have been making cards for almost 23 years, in fact...right about now I was creating my very first project, my daughter Terra's birth announcements - made out of a Disney stamp, cardstock, and a few colored pencils to color them in!  I had been put flat down in bed the early part of November, and knew I was having a girl!  That is why her nickname is "Pooh Bear", because of this Disney stamp!!!  I absolutely knew NOTHING about making cards - but wanted to create something "unique"!  Through this one project, not only did I find I loved to create crafts in general,  after moving back home to Utah from Colorado, I discovered the art of scrapbooking, and the rest you might say - is history!  I found a talent to create, and a love to share with people - to show how easy it is to create your own style of cards, pages and gifts!  I am going back to the basics...to help you in not only organizing your stuff, but in helping you get more done with what you d...

Creative PaperClay Design Team Announcement

The past 6 months have been a wonderful experience for me, being on the Creative PaperClay Design Team!  I learned more from these women on the team, than they will ever know!  I looked forward to each of their projects they made each month, and their tips - I can't think of one that didn't help me!  So now this term comes to an end, and a new term with a new design team begins.   I am so pleased to announce I was only 2 of the current members who were asked to come back - and to say I am humbled is a complete understatement!  I love to create, and this clay has helped me to make some of my most "favorite" projects by far!  My paper bag albums - customized to me, with MY name on it (and one for my sister)!  Magnets for me to hang on my fridge, and the embellishments for the middle of some of my flowers... customized in the colors I was working on!   So - join me the next 6 months, while I bring you a lot of fun projects, made out of recy...

Memories in Tyme - Changes

For those of you who have followed me for a while, you know me enough to know as much as I love creating, there comes a time when I have got to take a break and figure out me and Memories in Tyme!  The past few months/summer is actually that time for me - where I am reflecting on my business and personal life to see where it all will take me!  Creating has been a part of my life for over 22 years now, and honestly, I am glad it has been for multiple reasons!  This one "thing" kept me alive during one of the most horrible times in my life, and from it - I found more of a talent for creating in general, instead of it just being a "hobby"!   So, during the past year, my husband has been in school to further his education!  We moved from Colorado to Sacramento to Sparks Nevada all within a year's time...  I am T.I.R.E.D if you know what I mean, and can't wait to get this last part of our rebuilding done!  But with a bit of hard work in the next yea...

Lynda's October Tips -

I can't believe it has been 6 months for being on the design team!  The current team has helped me so much, in more ways you can imagine!  The new team coming up - excited to see what they come up with for sure!   I love working with the Creative PaperClay product for so many different reasons!  If you rubber stamp, you already have a ton of things you can make with those stamps including ornaments and one of a kind embellishments!  If you happen to scrapbook - and have those plastic templates for shapes and alphabets, those will come in handy here!   Tip #1: Think outside of the box when you are looking at creating with the clay!  What do you have that you can use - so that you can buy more CLAY!   Tip #2:  Water should become your very best friend when you are using this stuff!  A little bit of water on your fingertip will help to smooth out surfaces, especially if the clay is a bit more "dry".  Tip #3:...

A to Z About Lynda Project Idea -

I love making paper bag albums, the vertical style especially!  This has been one of my favorite projects that I have made, and I can't wait to get photos added and the journaling done!  Now, for the cover, I used Creative PaperClay product and my alphabet templates to cut out the letters to my name.  Using my Radiant Pearls paint (no longer around), I painted my name... and I molded the flowers with the clay, painting them as well.   As you open the album, you will see the first 2 pages, with the right page opening up to reveal 2 more letters!  You can see each of the sets of pages here -  You can see the pages are alike, yet a bit different at the same time.  All papers were bought at Michaels Arts and Crafts - with the embellishments from my Sizzix die cuts and punches.  Also used was Ashlyn's Alphabet Cricut cartridge for the alphabet.  A to Z about ME...  Words, phrases, pictures, favorites...that's ...
