I do not use black a lot - especially when I scrapbook...but when I do - I like to use something with a bit more "pop" to it, versus just plain colors! This is what was left over from another project that I had worked on - a bulletin board for a graduation! This project was done at least a year ago, and just found different things to use with the scraps now!
With the top card - I used only black and white...black brads, and the hearts is actually a stamp! The saying was done on my computer - and then printed off - so I could use them on different projects. I don't like to buy a lot of saying stamps, especially when I have my computer and printer...simply print the saying out on cardstock and you are done!
With the two bookmarks, again - scraps of paper from other projects used to make these - as well as punch shapes and die cut shapes either cut out specifically for these, or they were left-overs from other projects I had already done! I love the corners rounded versus not having them rounded - it just makes it look really neat! Each of the projects I am sharing this week are made from scraps - and what I have available to me at home... Times are hard enough without having to go and spend a ton of money on cards and gifts. If you plan things out - you can get more done - earlier in the year! I know for me - procrastination is my worse trait. I have learned - through my kids - that my word is everything....and without it - I am nothing. I can make a quick card and put it in the mail - and when they receive it - they know mom loves them and cares about them. This year will be different - not only for them, but for me too!
Now for the challenge part - if you don't save your scraps, I will challenge you to find a good system and start to save them. I use a simple file folder by color system, kept in an accordion style holder. If you keep scraps already, then I challenge you to look at what you have and make one thing with your scraps and what you have at home! If you love to read books, make a bookmark - or, make a birthday card for an upcoming birthday! I hope you start to enjoy scraps as much as I love to use them - and make sure you share what you have made!
