BBQ's and summertime

BBQ left side       Who hasn't spent a day BBQing with the family - spending the day preparing and cooking your meal, for the whole family to sit and enjoy...  When I was living in Utah with my family, mom would spend the day before...or the morning of...cooking the noodles, and then the potatoes and eggs...to make a macaroni salad and a potato salad to eat that day.  Whether we had hamburgers and hot dogs, or steak...depended on the event and the day, or what mom wanted to have made that day!  I know for me, this was one of the best times in my life - spending it with family...when we all got along that is!  I'm afraid if we all had to sit in the same house now, some of us would probably be duking it out instead of acting like humans!    For this 2 page spread, if you have punches if different styles, you can recreate this same layout without much difficulty.    BBQ right side Supplies: Red checkered paper - 1...

Grandma's Watch

Grandma's watch - side 1       This is my Grandma Tuckett - one of the finest ladies I have ever known.  She never had a bad thing to say about anyone, and when you needed to talk...she was there to listen.  The house - well...how her and Grandpa raised 4 kids in that little thing - with only one bathroom - is beyond me!  The one thing about Grandma - she was usually in the kitchen when you arrived, either doing dishes from the meal before, or getting ready to cook the next meal of the day, or fixing iced tea for everyone that was there!  She always had a bowl of candy - butterscotch's..and lots of hugs... lots and lots of hugs.  I miss her so much...but - when you are growing up, you think they will always be around!     Grandmas watch - side 2            This layout deserved to be special, just like Grandma was.  The layout started with a button pack that I purchased, which was used on the ta...

Being grateful - Oprah's lessons.....

Who hasn't sat down and watched Oprah - every afternoon at 4pm.  Watching her wisdom, what others have been through...the good, the bad and the ugly of life itself.  Today marked the end of an era - 25 years worth of her...  I remember going through one of the worse times in my life - and watching her show one day; she said " In order to HEAL you have to FEEL"..... and I sure had to feel my way through, let me tell you!  But it was those words that helped me to GET THROUGH...        Today's message - I AM IN CONTROL OF MY OWN DESTINY by my thoughts and my actions.  If I think negative thoughts or do bad things - I will attract negativity in my life.  If I do good deeds and think good thoughts, I will attract goodness in my life.  It isn't up to anyone else to make me happy, or make my life complete - I am complete because of ME and those that help me to be ME, not anything else.   ...

Event reminder

So, if you are like me - you run around - picking up presents or cards for those events in your life...normally at the last possible minute!   Yet - if you look at it rationally, if you are spending a lot of time doing things at the last minute, you can spend a bit of time planning and making what it is you need - before hand!  Whether it is a card, or an entire gift...by spending a little bit of time checking out your calendar for events coming up, might help you to not be so stressed out at the last minute!       At first, this post was once a month - to look at the upcoming events for the month!  However, looking at it, you really need to go further out, especially to allow for planning and making the items that needs to be made.  Sometimes it takes longer to go purchase everything than it does to make it!       I have a calendar printed out in a binder...

Mothers Day album - Allison's Legacy

It's been a LONG while since I got along with my family - especially my sister Allison.... but that was before, this is NOW!  On March 6, 2011, she sent a message to my sister- she wanted contact...what did I do - throw it in their faces and told them to basically - KMA pretty much...until the next day...  I woke up - got on Facebook, and got my horoscope for the day from Russell Grant...and that is the day things changed for me, and ultimately for my family.  No, I'm still not talking to ALL of them, but I am TALKING instead of yelling, so THAT is a good thing!  This album was one made for her for Mothers Day this year - made in her favorite colors - for her to showcase her family - her legacy in!  Front and back cover      I have always looked up to Allison, for the way she danced when we were little girls - on her toes just like on the Nutcracker...and then the way she was a mom to her kids.  I want...
Basic cards - using scraps of paper from other projects...do you know how many cards I have made and given away that was made just from scraps of paper...too many to count, but this is one of them.  I was working on another project at the time, and kept the scraps from the framed page.  The colors in the blue patterned paper has a bit of brown in it, so that color was used for the accent color.  I used my Sizzix heart die cut -  which is used for many other projects as well - for the only accent, with a simple "Thanks" saying was used, but you could use whatever you have available to you instead!                                                                                            ...

Basic mini album directions

Mini albums are fun to make, and an easy project to do with little supplies.  You can make a 20 page album with 5 12 x 12 pages and embellishments to match.   Supplies needed:   5 12 x 12 paper that coordinate  Paper to match for matting photos Embellishments to match the theme you are working on Adhesive for the album, hot glue to bind the album together Basic tools for scrapbooking - paper trimmer, scissors and hole punch  Ruler and pencil Directions:   Step one:  Taking the 5 sheets of paper, put them in an order that is pleasing to the eye.  I like to use a patterned paper, then a solid color, patterned paper, solid color, then patterned paper last.  However, this is just ME.   Step two:  Cut the sheets in 4 6 x 6 sheets putting them in the same order that you decided in step one.   Step three:  Take two sheets of paper from each pile, put them in order, repeat until all th...
Scrapbooking can be hard enough at times, especially when you do not have a particular theme to go with the pictures, or it is something that you can't find exact embellishments to match what it is you are wanting to do.  Take one of the last projects I wanted to do for instance.  It was Easter weekend, as well as my moms birthday - so how do you make something that incorporates the two?        Well, this was my take on a project for my sister...for her to document the day's events.  I used an Easter bunny for the Easter theme, and added Easter eggs and a basket or two to go along with it.  I also added presents and balloons to go with the birthday theme, this way both "events" were covered since they did both events at the party!  With each of my albums I make, I always like to incorporate some sort of interactivity with my albums, such as tags, hidden journaling or objects...that type of thing!   ...

Themes...being artistic...planning projects

Being artistic really has it's advantages, let me tell you!  My mom is artistic, I get it from her - except she sews, my sister danced when she was little (and better than anyone I ever knew that could dance), and now I "create" paper craft items.  For a while there - I wondered where I belonged, I didn't think I was like much of anyone in my family...yet when we get started talking now, OMG let me tell you, you can sure tell where I fit in and belong!   Mom and I are a lot alike in how we tackle the projects we do - let me explain!!!      There are times when you look at a project, and have no idea how you want to do it, and other times when you know exactly what you want to do.  With me, I first decide the project I am doing, and then the theme of the project - so that the rest comes easier!  I spend a few minutes writing things out on a sheet of paper, so that I know what needs to be done or what I w...

A bit of this and that!!!

Hello everyone, It has been a rather interesting few weeks for me...things that need to get done, has not gotten done - or things cropped up when they shouldn't have - all causing problems in my life!  Then a week of blogger problems has not made it easy for me to do the blog!  In the next few weeks, I will be covering different things, as well as paper crafting!  Yes, scrapbooking, cards, projects, etc., is still going to be the prominent thing listed - but I am going to be doing a bit of this and that as well. Things like site reviews - scrapbooking and non-scrapbooking related...as well as book reviews, product reviews...sometimes griping about Paternity Fraud (but not as much as the fun stuff)!!   I will tell you - when I do posts that are not paper craft related - I will be putting NPCR on the subject line with the title!   Memories in Tyme is still all about your memories, and placing them on paper for you and your family to see; but we are also h...

My favorite mini album

He said...she said - one of my favorite mini albums I have done so far (other than the albums I will be sharing next week)...  It was designed after a project I found in Our Family Scrapbooks by Lisa Bearnson and Becky Higgins - one I got from Lisa, Marci and Angie at Creating Keepsakes Magazine.  Del and I have been together for 11 years on Mothers Day...in fact, he moved in with me on Mothers Day weekend - 11 years ago.  He moved in - and never left!  Together, we have created a marriage and a life that I never thought I could have... This album was very simply made, using 2 pictures of Del and  I, the rest is for us to journal the different areas in the album.  I totally loved Lisa's original idea in the book (pg156-159), she used tags for the "he said/she said" part, and circles to keep each person's thoughts in.  I used a different look - a blank page for each person to put things in, like broken bones, family, things like that - that I want to...
