Your journaling doesn't need to be the same all the time, in this fun color block layout, I used a wavy template to create pencil lines, and then wrote the words on top of the lines, making sure to erase anything that did not get covered with words. The lines were put across both sides of the layout to create visual interest. I also chose to use an ink color that matched the layout, instead of something that clashed, to me it just looks a bit better instead of a black ink screaming back at you! If you have never color blocked before, it is a way fun technique to do using any color!
Cardstock - 2 sheets for the background base
3 colors for the color blocking
Embellishments of your choice to go with the theme
Alphabet template to create your title
Wavy template for the journalling
Marker to match the layout
Floss for tags
Paper trimmer, scissors, hole punch and pencil from the toolbox
Directions:
Step one: Take the background cardstock you are using and place it to the side. After each step is completed, place it in the pile for use later on. I put what I can on each page that will go with that page to make it easier for me in the later steps.
Step two: Decide which color will be in which place according to the example shown, and cut the following pieces: (place aside when done)
2 green pieces 2.5 x 8
2 pink pieces 5 x 2.5
2 blue pieces 2.5 x 2.75
2 blue pieces 5 x 8
Step three: Taking the photos you are using, start to matt them, I used one of each color in order to keep the consistency going, place aside.
Step four: Using your alphabet template, create your title. I used a cream on the top, with a color on the bottom to coordinate with the color block look...place aside.
Step five: Create the 2 tags, using the cream matting in pink. Add the floss to the top, and buttons to the tags in the theme of your layout.
Step six: Start to put the layout together, leaving room for step seven which is the journalling. First add the cardstock, using glue to adhere it to the base piece. There will be a bit of extra room that you will be able to see the base color. Add the title to the top using the two different colors, then the photos, then the embellishments/tags.
Step seven: Take your wave template, place it on the layouts when they are side by side. Take your pencil and lightly trace the wave lines for the journalling. On a separate piece of paper, write the words out you want to say first, then write them on your layout using a pencil first. After the words are wrote, write over the words in the marker, erasing the pencil lines afterwards.
I hope you enjoy this journaling project...another one to follow tomorrow!
