Journaling...the written word on your scrapbook pages that reflect what the picture is all about. This week we are going to talk about journaling...and show you a few ideas to kick your journaling up a bit! The photos are the reason you are scrapbooking in the first place, but the journaling helps to bring the photos to light.
At times, you might have a simple name and date...other times, you might have half a page or more just talking about the photos themselves. You can journal by hand, or by computer if your handwriting is less than perfect, but make sure you at least do one project with your handwriting on it so future generations can see how your handwriting looks. In the layout Honestly - the strips of paper have the journaling on them cut in sentences and added to the pink and brown color scheme. I used one photo, and a one word title with the journaling added in the strips. With Lifestyles of the frazzled layout, you wouldn't understand the meaning behind this photo unless the words were written underneath. It isn't a simple picture of my husband at the table, it is him studying to graduate high school 20 years later, and sitting down teaching himself algebra! It was watching a mans dreams start to come into place just by this one little thing. The words were more important...put in my own handwriting not the computer this time. This was a simple layout, using the background paper more without any kind of embellishments. I usually use a lot of embellishments, but working on this layout for Del, it was a bit different.
So, your challenge for the day today is to find one photo, have a simple title, and do your journaling...adding embellishments if you want to! In both of my examples today I did not use embellishments, later this week I will show different types of journaling that can be done to kick things up a bit. If you are starting out, this is a great way to begin!
I hope you enjoy the week of journaling this week...with products and layouts just for journaling!
