For some people, holidays are really hard to talk about.....for whatever reason it is they have the hard time...why have Thanksgiving layouts if you do not spend the time with loved ones on that day? I am right there with you, and this will be all about just that!
The layout I am going to be showcasing today is one that brings a lot of memories back to me...my mom cooking Thanksgiving dinner at the stove in her small kitchen! This is a typical picture of my mom...cooking the wonderful dinner that she did! She would spend the week before making the pies, and getting things ready to go...then up early on that big day just to finish it all up! In this example, you can see I didn't even use the traditional "Thanksgiving" colors or papers, I chose to showcase the relationship between my daughter and my mom instead.
The paper and embellishments are from My Minds Eye, and then I added the flowers to the bottom to create a cute look! I added journaling to talk about the relationship...but what I didn't do is concentrate on the holiday itself. This picture was actually taken the Thanksgiving after my exhusband committed suicide, so it was a very emotional time for me, one I do not ever want to go back to again...therefore the layouts I chose to do was more to help me with my healing process than showcase holidays!
For this year, I am finishing up a Thanksgiving album, what I am grateful for...and it will be a lot! We have been through so much, now the time that has been spent on healing has truly paid off...we are thankful for what we DO have, and not upset about what we don't! This year I plan on taking a few photos...of the things I truly am thankful for...my husband, my son...the friends who have helped me to get where I am at today....and the influences of those around me!
What a difference a year can make...here's to the things we are all grateful for...
