Card Folder Idea

One fun and easy project you can make for your favorite friends or family members is a folder with cards!  This is an easy project to do, being able to customize each of the packets you make for the people on your gift list.  Make a set for your neighbors with birthday cards, or notecards...whatever they would use the most of.

You can make the folder in either 12 x 12 or 8.5 x 11.  If you use the larger size, you will want to trim the sides and bottom to fit the cards you do.  This size is better for larger envelopes.  I use the 8.5 x 11 with the smaller envelopes and cards!

Directions for folder:
Step one:  Take cardstock, place it in front of you so it is length wise.  Fold in half.
Step two:  Unfold the sheet of cardstock, fold the bottom length up about 2" to create a folder type look.
Step three:  Unfold again, taking your scissors, you will want to cut a V in the middle on the bottom 2" just before the fold line to allow you to fold up the small portion.
Step four:  After you have trimmed the area, glue down the 2" on the far left and far right sides of the cardstock only, the middle V is left alone.
Step five:  On the front of the folder, decorate to match the cards you are putting on the inside!

For the cards on the inside, in this example I made 4 different cards with the same flower as I used on the file folder...just different sayings on each of them!  I made them simple to show people how easy it is to put a few die cuts with a saying and you can be done.  You do not have to go the extremes...or overboard on your cards, especially if you are a simple person.  You can tweak this idea, and put a series of holiday cards, notecards, birthday cards, thank you cards, sympathy cards, thinking of you cards...or one of each!  I will usually put 4 cards in the folder, sometimes 6 if you do not use a lot of embellishments or make the cards fat!

For the cards, I used different sayings, and different colors on the flowers.  The colors still look good together, but it gives you an idea of the different things you can do with basic supplies.  Each of the cards allow you to customize it, or even add buttons to the tops of the flowers to make it pop a bit more.

Cards are simple to make, the examples here are basic ideas that a beginner can do.  I will put up examples of harder folders and cards to go in the folder in the near future, all with the same title!  I like quick and easy, but the cards you take a bit more time on, can truly become works of art!   I hope you enjoy this idea, use what you have available to you...add a bit of patterned paper, or make the card a different color to spice it up a bit!
