March is National Craft month - what are YOUR plans for crafting??? I know I am going to spend the entire month bringing you absolutely fun projects you can make at home...with little supplies and money needed! We are going to go back to the basics - and use our punches, die cuts, stamps, and templates...versus going out and purchasing embellishments that are more expensive! You will see a lot of posts coming up from the days forward... both products I recommend, ideas for you to share...and challenges to get your creative juices really going! So, lets get started with today's idea - an altered file folder made into a kitchen organizer!
This idea was found on Pinterest - which is the original idea that I drew from for this project (while you are at it, please feel free to follow me, and I will do the same back)! Though I loved her original idea, I wanted something I could put in my kitchen, more for keeping track of different things such as recipe's I want to try, a shopping list, take-out numbers and information, and telephone numbers we need. This information can be changed as I need to change it, and can even have other papers added to the back if I needed to with other information included to be able to be more organized instead of all over the place like I am! It is also small enough I can take with me when I am going shopping and a place to keep all of the coupons and things I need to for when I am at the register! Great to just stick in my purse, planner or the truck even - especially if it has coupons for restaurants included in it! This can be used for so many different things...
Supplies I used:
File folder (I used an old one that was used up a bit instead of a brand new one)
Bone folder to help fold the file folder
Ruler
Ink pad (I used brown)
Patterned paper - 3 different sheets that coordinate
Ribbon
Various flowers
Basket (or something to put flowers in)
Crimper (for basket)
Printed papers for the inside in 4 different categories
Scraps of paper for squares - 4 1 1/2" squares
Adhesive
Buttons
Brads
Instead of giving you directions, I am going to send you to the original blog - Taylored Expressions and let you just go and get the "how to" when you have time... I printed out the lists I wanted - from my computer and printer... My idea is to make these for gifts, and then add gift cards for people to purchase the things they need - or to go to dinner - or something - depending on the person I am giving it to! This was one of the funnest things I have made in a long time, and can't wait to get more made!
I hope you enjoy today's project...one of 31 projects for CRAFT month! Thanks for stopping by...and make sure you share with me what you ended up making!
