Easy Card Gift Idea Day One

Portfolio of cards

I love making cards...and I love giving gifts to my family, especially things they will use, like this idea!   Inside is 4 different cards and envelopes in a fun folder made out of cardstock!  Great way to use up some of those fun patterned papers and extra supplies you have around or scraps in the same set of colors.  This was actually a really fun project - let's get started with the supply list and directions to create this fun little folder today, and the next two days will be the individual card ideas!!!

Inside portfolio with cards
Supplies I used:
  • For the "file" - 8.5 x 11 sheet of cardstock
  • Background paper - 4 different coordinating papers
  • 4 card bases w/envelopes
  • Border punch
  • Embossing powder - clear and white
  • Ink pad - brown and white
  • Brad
  • 3D flowers
  • Stamps - flower, basket, various sayings
  • Crimper (if you have one)
  • 3D dots
  • Bone folder
  • Ruler
Directions for basic folder:
Step one: Take the 8.5 x 11 sheet of cardstock and using the bone folder and ruler, fold it in half from the top to the bottom.  Unfold - fold one of the sides 2" to create the folder. (See photos above)
Step two:  Take hot glue and glue the left and right edges down.
Step three:  Start to decorate the outside cover with the same papers you create the cards with.

Directions for the front cover:
Step one:   Cut background paper, matt with two of the colors so you have 3 papers so far.
Step two:  With one of the colors that will be on the top - use the border punch to create a fun border,
Step three:  Stamp and emboss a basket - I used a brown ink pad with clear embossing powder.   I also crimped the basket - so if you have one, this is especially fun!  (Repeat this step for use later on)
Step four:  Stamp and emboss in white, two flowers from 2 different colored papers (same that was used for the background).  Cut them out - place 3 in the basket, and one at the side. (Repeat this step for use later on)
Step five:  Stamp the back of the folder with a stamp that represents you...  I use one that says "Designed by"  and the other that says "Lynda"!

Make sure you check in tomorrow for 2 of the cards and directions, and next day for the other two cards and directions!!!
