I like to recycle things, especially things that I like a lot, or that are useful. I don't save everything...and I'm certainly not a hoarder...but I will reuse things! One thing that I reused was a planner that I had bought one year from Franklin Covey...it ended up in an 8 x 8 album...with each section being something about the topic and the saying for each section. I then found pictures that didn't go with anything special, but I wanted to showcase it anyway...scrapbooking isn't just about the photos and journalling precise ways, it is about using your photos and journaling creatively to spark something unique.
The album I chose was a simple 8 x 8 album, with Chatterbox papers. If you have a kit already, then no need to purchase anything special or extra, use the kit you already have! When picking out the papers to use, I chose papers that complimented each other and yet still looked good individually. I also chose to use each scrap as well... As for the adhesive...I have found 3m to have some of the best adhesive products on the market...espeically their glue dots which I use a lot when I am at a crop for things I need to make sure sticks down!
When looking at your gift lists, look at things you can make for each of your recipients...or what you have available to you already! I have been on a budget for the past 8 years since my husband was taken out of work. Making things with my hands was...at times...the only things I could do for those people who I cared about. A card for one person, an album for another...and what sparked Memories in Tyme...was a gal I worked with at the time who wanted me to make her a box of 30 cards!
Take a few minutes each day...or 30 minutes a week if that is all you have...make a list and decide who is going to get what! Learn to recycle things...look back on the recent posts to find the altered coffee cans turned into gift holders! Look at what you buy often, what would make a great gift...a clock turned into a one of a kind clock for your mom or sister...or an album for your best friend made up of photos you have of the two of you!
Go through your stash of stuff that is still in the package...add to it a few things you have bought, and create a basket or some other unique way to hold them, and give it to someone who you can teach to scrapbook. Take the time in the next few months to make something...even if it just a card...for your favorite friends and family!
