Christmas time should be a happy time for everyone, not a time for stressing out...yet year after year, I end up not doing anything...in fact the past few years for me Christmas has just been another "day". This past Christmas was the first time we were able to actually get presents for each of us here at the house...and send to the other kids too! This year, I am starting early...no more of this waiting until the last minute to do things!
Your challenge this week is to make sure you are looking at that day, make a list...and start to look at parties and things as well. Do you need to plan out a party, or just a create a special dish for one? Do you have parties that EVERY year you can depend on going to, a family event, or a friends Christmas party? Make sure you write that down too!
This will be the first year I actually have a party for my friends that live close to me! I am excited to plan dinner out, and plan a night where everyone can get together, eat and have a fun night! I can't wait to plan out the invitations, and make fun things for each person coming!
Also look at others....do you associate with people who do a Sub-for-Santa or other type of help for people? Look at what you could make for them, or what you could do to make a bit of extra money to help a family out. Look at prices of things, or....like I do, see what you have at home that you CAN do for people... A simple framed page with a photo on it works wonderful...then every 3 months send another page to put in the frame to match that theme!
Look at each person on your gift list with a fine tooth comb...look at their favorite colors, flower, or anything else they like to do...find special photos...or just create an album for them to add their own photos in. If they have a sister that they are close with, make a sister album with fun quotes and neat things that reflect their love! A favorite animal, make another recipient a fun album for their pet. Make each of your grandkids a fun album such as 10 reasons I love you, or 10 things you do that makes me smile...or any number of albums for them!
Also look at your ornaments...find one you can make for each of your recipients...like of an altered CD with a paper piecing pattern on the front. or a number of other darling ornaments! I know for me...I am having fun designing a lot of things that will be for my Christmas party, and my Christmas cards!
One gift I want to share with you all that I am making...is a digital album of my grandmothers recipe's. As I finish it up, I will share a few pages with you! I was given an album made by sister, of grandma's recipe's. I am in the process of scanning and redoing the album in a digital format. The original is priceless to me, and a wonderful legacy of an amazing couple! Here is a layout made of my grandparents....also included in an All About Me Challenge! This is in my AAM album, but could also be framed and placed on my wall instead!
