Embossing With Ink - Tips and Tricks (And a Sale Too)

Embossing, you can "emboss" two different ways - a dry emboss is with stencils and a stylus to have the image be more raised on the paper, and a wet emboss is with a special ink pad and powder to heat your stamped images to be a raised look.  Embossing this way 'simply put', helps your image to "pop" off the page and be more detailed.

The first step to embossing - you will need a few supplies on hand.  Keep in mind, I have had the same heat gun for at least 20 years now...so this purchase is very economical - and can be used for many different things (such as taking stickers off vehicles) LOL!!!!  You will go through more ink pads than you will heat guns - that is for sure!

Items you will need to add to your basic toolbox kit -
  • Heat tool - allows you to heat and emboss the stamped image
  • Ink pad - needs to be a special type of pad, or Pigment ink at least
  • Embossing powder - powder that when heated, is raised and hard on your page/project.
  • Fine tip paint brush- for brushing off the extra powder.
**Tip - if you rub a static cling sheet on the item before you stamp, it will help the powder stick to where it needs to, not all over the place!  Also, you can use a paint brush to brush off the excess powder off your creation for those little pieces that gets stuck!

With each of the cards here - something was embossed!  I really love using white on darker colors such as the purple card, it really helps the colors to pop that much more!  With the top card, the flower pot was painted and embossed in clear powder!!!  Another fun look I really love to use - clear powder on a colored ink!

Directions for embossing:
Step one:  Taking your image, ink the stamp using the correct ink pad for embossing.  Add it to your project.
Step two:  Take your embossing powder and generously put it over the entire stamped image.
Step three:  Dump the extra into a scrap piece of paper, tapping the excess off the creation.  Using your paper, funnel the rest back into the jar to use on another project.
Step four:  Using your heat gun - turn it on and heat the project about 3" from your stamped image.  You will see the image turn from a dull color - to a brighter color right in front of you.
Step five:  Using your favorite method of painting - markers, colored pencils, chalks, or paint - color in the image if you want to!

Now, the best part!!!  If you don't have a heat gun - I am offering a special until the end of September - to allow everyone enough time to get the money to me!!!  To get this special - email me directly at Memoriesintyme@gmail.com using Heat Tool Offer in the subject line, and order will go in on September 30th!  Retail price (not including shipping) is $42.50 - you pay only $34, with shipping a bit extra depending on where you are at!!!
