I have paper scrapbooked for 16 years now...there is nothing better than finishing up an album or project...for everyone to see, touch and feel! Then a few years ago, I was asked to do a review on some digital software...and off I went to play! I spent a few days getting to know the software, downloading a free kit - and once my software was sent, I borrowed a few digital photos and created...that was it for me! Paper versus digital...I love both, and still do both!
So, for those of you who haven't touched digital...but are curious about it, you will get all things beginner digital scrapbooking - Memories in Tyme style, once a week starting today!! The best part about digital scrapbooking is being able to go home, right after an event - and scrapbook the photos from that event while your thoughts are still fresh... without having to wait for the photos to be developed and go shopping for supplies! Another great thing I like about digital scrapbooking - is the ability to change everything you are doing easily if something isn't looking right - without having to ruin the whole entire project! You can't do that with a paper scrapbook, once the adhesive is down, it's down!
The software is from Daisy Trail, one I would recommend to anyone, and one I reviewed a while back. Just click the Products and Reviews tab at the top, scroll down for this particular "free" software - I will be adding the review for the Craft Artist software soon on this link... so check back for it. This is the link for Serif's Craft Artist Compact free edition - set yourself up an account - its free of course, download the software, and lets get started doing some fun digital scrapbook pages!!
With digital scrapbooking, you don't need to run out and grab a bunch of supplies, this software and web site allows you to download free kits for you to use at least to start out with! I have yet to spend a ton of money on kits - I download the ones I like for free and buy the kits I know have a lot of things I will use. And with the paid version, you have a whole bunch of kits already in the software, and that is not including the kits you can purchase from the web site!
Keep in mind yours will be a FREE version of the software so you can try it out. You won't get as many of the page kits or bells and whistles as the main version has; on the upside, it does give you an idea as to what you can do with digital software, without having to purchase the software up front! The best thing about this software, you can also create your own cards with it as well, being able to print them out if you have an event you need invitations for!!
So, a few challenges for you for the week:

So, a few challenges for you for the week:
- Start by downloading the free version of software here (unless you have your own digital software you want to use) start to get familiar with the features.
- Look at the page kits that comes with the free version, and if you need to, download 1 or more of the free page kits you can create with.
- Get in and start to look around in the software, what are the features, what about the page kits, how do you upload your photos to work with - look around and start to play!
- Create one layout with a photo, background paper, journaling, a title, and some sort of an embellishment.
Join me each week as we start to digital scrapbook! I will give you all kinds of tips to do it for cheap! The most expensive part - is the software you use! We will get you links to other web sites that can help you learn more, easy ideas you an recreate, as well as different software you can start to look at! See you next week,
