Christmas does not have to be expensive for people...take these altered notebooks for example. You can pick up a notebook on sale at just about any office place, Walmart, or $1 store right now... Look back on the archives for directions on how to make them! I also like to add a bookmark (also see below for directions on how to make), a pen, and a book or gift certificate to go with it and you are done! Each person could get a different book, depending on what it is they like, or might be going through personally! If you go to http://www.simplystacie.net/ you will find great books in just about every topic you can imagine done by her team of book reviewers!
Bookmarks...nothing easier than bookmarks! They can be made using your scraps of stuff, punches, die cuts, or stickers...to create a one of a kind bookmarks for people on your gift list. Add the above handmade notebook in their favorite colors, with the bookmark made out of scraps! Make up a lot for your halloween party, to give away with treats! Easily made so that you can customize to each person using their name, or favorite colors.
Step one: create base by using scraps, cut 2" x 5.5" or whatever length you want.
Step two: add scraps of coordinating colors to create a look you like.
Step three: add punches, stickers or die cuts to finish it up.
Step four: (optional) Punch a hole in the top of the bookmark and put ribbon, floss or yarn through it for the tassles!
Mini albums are by far my favorite projects to do...you can create a wonderful one of a kind album for just about anyone... For your parents, make an album about what they did to inspire you, or make you into the person you are today. For your friends, make an album about why they are your friend, or quotes and poems about why you care about them so much...add some of your favorite photos and you have a great gift made! I love making mini albums one of two ways, and either is fun...depending on the project itself. The 10 Things I Want to Learn album was made with 2 sheets of 8.5 x 11 white cardstock cut to fit...and a sheet of 12 x 12 cardstock cut in half and then folded... Each of the items I wanted to learn was on a page inside...which was 10 including the inside front and back cover! Add a little extra, such as a name stamp, or signature to the item you have made...this way, each person who gets something you have made, will be able to always look at what you have done with pride!
See, Christmas and gift giving doesn't have to be hard...or costly! I am planning some framed pages, and a few little things that I am making for a few special people in my life! Start to look at your list... I know for me, I am starting to look at the cards I want to do, and with everything I do, they will be cute, but easy! I hope to have 4 different designs soon, I will scan the papers I am using and embellishments for each set I do for you to look at how I start things out!
Enjoy, and as always, thank you for visiting Memories in Tyme! I hope to start having a lot of different things to share with you...right now I am limited to a scanner and some things just don't show well without a picture! Please feel free to show me what you are creating, or what inspiration you have had from what I have shared with you! It is the beginning of the month, look at events you might have coming up in the next few weeks that require your attention!
