Notecards made out of scraps of paper

Making cards is not hard, I've said it before...I will say it again, especially if you scrapbook anyway!   This card was made with scraps of paper (left over from a scrapbook mini album), punches and a few buttons to complete the look.  For the inside, you can always leave it blank to add a personalized note to it, or stamp a favorite saying to it instead!  This type of card can be made in any color, with any type of embellishment, punch, or die cut you have left over from a project you are working on.  Supplies used:  Card base w/envelope Scraps of paper for the layers on the base of the card Misc. Punches Buttons Brads Step one:  Cut the scraps of paper to fit the base of the card, layering one on top of the other,  place your adhesive down on the layers and place them on the card base. Step two:  For this example, I used flower punches, and a heart punch for the leaves.  Decide how many punch pieces you want, and punch out the pie...
Your name make's a great start for an All About Me page, taking each of your initials and finding words that make up each of the inititals.  The layout itself is more advanced, using eyelets in the name.  This can be changed to brads to change the look and feel of the  layout.   The background can be stamped or not, depending on your experience and what you choose to use.  Tags were used for each of the initials for L we have Leo, loud, last minute...you get the idea, Y we have yak, yak, yak.....N is nag, nice, not normal, D is dumb, Del....A is artist, accomplished..... Each of the sides match, with pictures added at different times in my life.  It was fun coming up with things that matched each of the letters! Use your favorite color to finish it up, creating tags yourself, with handwriting in for the journaling.     Step one:  for title, I used the Coluzzle alpha system to create the letters, and then matted in anot...

Making cards is not all that hard, especially if you already scrapbook.  I made cards before I ever picked up a scrapbook page, so if you can do one, you can do the other one!   This card was made with scraps and 1 saying stamp, that's it!  Cards can be made ahead of time, so when you need a card, you don't have to spend the time making one!   I like to either make a bunch of cards, or make cards when I am scrapbooking, using the leftovers from my pages!  Stamping is done a lot like scrapbooking, using the same things.  I remember moving back home to Utah after living in Colorado where stamping was big, and scrapbooking was just starting out.  My sister and I went into a scrapbook shop and the stuff was the same...the cardstock, patterned paper, etc!  I organized all my stuff, and used scrapbook papers with my cards and that's all she wrote!  Step one:  Get background papers for card, depending on the theme you are doin...
Layouts can be fun to make, adding pictures, a bit of journaling, and your final touches and you are done.  This layout does not have a particular theme that I wanted to showcase, I had already completed a few layouts of my son for his birthday, these were of my friend Katie!  Katie worked at United Van Lines with me, we both started working the same day...her in HR, me in billing!  We "clicked" so to speak, and a friendship... if only for a moment emerged!  This layout was made with scraps in the bottom, cut in small pieces to form a border along the bottom of the spread.  The circles are half circles, cut by hand, I did not want it to be exact, instead I wanted the look to be more "off"!  For the title, I simply used buttons, cardstock, ribbon and slides!  It was the pictures that I wanted to showcase more than the embellishments!   People think they have to spend tons of money on scrapbooking supplies, I say NOT!  Supplies need...

Grandma's Watch

Grandma Tuckett's watch.... the one piece of jewelry that I got when she passed away.  At the time I needed a "watch", but it was too special to me to wear it, so in a layout it went instead.   For this layout, I chose a picture of my grandma that I really liked...this was her, her expression, her smile and her glasses!  You knew she loved you every single time she came to your house, or you had the pleasure of going to hers!   Oh how I miss her hugs!  The journaling I used was handwritten, to reflect my thoughts about her, and my love for her.  I chose simple embellishments, the crochet butterfly reminded me of her blankets she used to crochet for us grandkids when we were little.      When I started with this layout, it was the embellishments that first caught my eye.  I wanted something special for this layout, and I definitely achieved the look!  This can be tweaked in a number of different ways...

Pieces of Me, layout idea

Pieces of me... the beginnings of my Book of Me!  Doing a Book of Me album (or All About Me as some people call it) is actually a lot of fun.   When I first started doing my album, I wanted to do layouts that reflected WHO I am.  I didn't want to just do layouts about my family, though they are important too!    Angie Pedersen started the Book of Me, and has also wrote the Book of Us and Growing Up Me.  She can be found at http://www.scrapyourstories.com/  if you want to locate her book, or for other challenges she might have.  Some of the challenges I will do is based on her book, others will be from some of the other challenges I have found! ...

Card idea

Mothers Day is right around the corner, so here is a card you can recreate for your own "mother", friend, or sister!   I always like quick and easy when I am making things.  I use sketches at times, but normally I just "wing it".  If you "google" card sketches, you will find blogs and sites all around full of card sketches you can use to follow.   In this example, I used 3 stamps and embossing powder...that's it!  Embossing is not hard to do, you need a small heat gun to heat the powder, that's about it.  I picked mine up on sale, those wonderful 40% off coupons you can get work wonderful for this, it will then make the purchase less.  However, things like this make great gifts, sending these links to your friends and family.    http://www.robertscrafts.com/default.aspx?PageID=83   is for the gun http://www.robertscrafts.com/default.aspx?PageID=83 and this is for the powder.  I use black, gold and some...
This is one of those layouts that can be recreated with different themes and different colors... depending on what you need.  In this layout, I chose photos that show my cat's personality, as you can tell she is Miss Priss around this house!  You could change this by using the same title and colors, just put girl photos in!   You can also change both the title and colors, just use blues for the colors and change the title to "All Boy" instead!  The cardstock I chose for this example is from the  Bazill Basics  company.  They have 5 packs that coordinate with each other, making it so that your colors match!   In this example, as easy as it is, I did use a couple of harder techniques.  I will give you ideas how to change things for your experience level.  On side 1, I used eyelets to hold the ribbon, but you can always use a simple hole punch, placing ribbing through it and glueing down both the top and bottom port...
