There Goes My Life

I was told from someone that the "first children should be throw away children", because we screw them up so much!  In some aspects I have to agree, especially in my oldests' case.  I was a single mother at 21, raising a premature son on my own.  I didn't really know "how" to be a mother really, so this poor kid really has had it rough!  He is now 24...in college, and trying to do the best job he possibly can, so I guess I didn't screw him up too much!

This 2 page layout was made with each of my three kids in mind.  I wanted a place to put into words how I feel about each of my kids!    I wanted a layout that showed them how much I love them all, and how each of them changed me in one way or another.

When designing this layout I designed it with this in mind:The photos used are my favorite photos of my kids.

  • Embellishments are my own design on the tags, in a monochromatic color scheme.
  • Under each photo is hidden journaling, telling why I love each of my kids.
Supplies needed:

Cardstock in monochromatic color scheme
White (or other basic color to match above)
Ribbon
Buttons
                                                    Wire
                                                    Misc. shapes
                                                    Tags
                                                    Punch
                                                    Stapler
                                                    Alpha Stickers
                                                    Eyelets or brads
                                                    Tile pieces with sayings

Step by step directions:

Step one:  Take the cardstock you need for the background, and cut the top piece 1" on top and bottom.  Place on top of the white cardstock, place with adhesive.
Step two:  Using the alpha stickers, start to create your title to go on both pages.   Use brads or eyelets f or the 4 corners.
Step three:  Matt your photos with white, then a color.  You will need to place that on the top, with the tile piece with ribbon on the bottom of that creating a fram.  You will want to place this on the right side of a white sheet of cardstock landscape wise.  Do not put adhesive down yet
Step four:  Fold the paper so you get a fold under the photo to create the hidden journaling on that is the entire size of the frame.  Trim the excess off, and before you place adhesive down, make sure you do the handwriting first.  Then place the frame on top using your adhesive.  Repeat these steps for as many children you have, or as many photos you want framed.
Step five:  Create a tag, using a punch, ribbon, wire, buttons, and cut out shapes to make a one of a kind tag.
Step six:  Get your journaling done...whether you use your own handwriting, or the computer...the important part is writing a piece on top for the world to see!
Step seven:  Place final adhesive down, and place the items where you want them to go.

With this layout, you can tweak it for just about any type of event.  With Mothers Day coming up, do a framed page for your mom, with reasons you love her so much.  Or even make a mini album with all of her grandkids, or her favorite things.  You can even make a page of your favorite things about her, done in colors she would enjoy!

I hope you enjoy this layout, as with anything, if you recreate please give me credit!  Send me a link to your creation for me to showcase later on, on either my web site or my blog!
