Can you tell I like to read? All kinds of books from self help books, craft books, love stories, and school books…I love to read! For me, I started to read when I was just a little girl, going to the library with the “twins”! I would go home with a ton of books to read, going back to the library for more. This sparked a love for reading that now, has sparked a love for writing!
This layout is also the first time I actually wrote on my photos! I don’t normally do things like that, but in this layout, it turned out wonderfully! I wanted to showcase the different types of books that I read! The colors I used also are pleasing to the eye, blue, wheat and cream! I love how the titled turned out, with the words, and the hearts for the “love” part spreading across the two pages! The bottom layer is a wheat color, paired with the blue and cream, which makes a beautiful color choice. (One that is in My Creative Companion book in my own section!)
This type of layout can be done with any type of hobby that you do, such as gardening, games, or a collection such as Barbie’s or Hot Wheel cars. Look at some of those pictures you have that at first when you look at it, you wonder what in the heck were you thinking…but yet there are elements of something that you can use! When creating the embellishment for it, loook at what you are doing the layout on. If there are no stickers or die cuts you can use...create your own with a simple tag and a few buttons, punch pieces or whatever!
If you like the colors, then use just the colors with your favorite photos. The books I used are handmade, using a pair of scissors and a trimmer to create "books", with my black marker (fine tip) to create the "look" of the book! Though the scan does not show it, where you see the wheat color on the cardstock below, it is actually on the right side as well!
Supplies used:
2 sheets of wheat cardstock
2 sheet of blue cardstock (both trimmed 1" on top and side)
Title, I used 3 different type of things, die cuts, a large fabric sticker and rub on's
Black fine tip marker for the photo and to create the look of the books
Scraps for the hearts (can use stickers and die cuts together) I used a punch and 2 different heart die cuts for this example
Trimmer to trim the squares underneath the photos
Step one: Trim the top layer of cardstock 1" on top and 1 of the sides, place adhesive on it, and put it on the wheat color.
Step two: Taking the photos you are using, matt 1 or two photos, and then take squares cut in half to place underneath the other photos.
Step three: Create the books using scraps of paper and a black fine tip marker to create the look of the books. I did 3 sets of books, each different amounts of books, depending on the photos I used.
Step four: Place the items you finished up on your cardstock, without placing the adhesive. Get a feel for where you want everything to be placed, or look at the example for an idea!
Step five: Create your title with the items you chose, stickers, die cuts, etc! Using adhesive, place the title around the rest of the embellishments and photos.
Step six: Using adhesive, place the items exactly where you have them, or change them around to fit your needs. When you like the look, place the adhesive down on the item and place on one of the two sides.
Step seven: (Optional) Taking your black fine tip marker, start to write on your photos, use arrows or whatever to showcase the books you read!
That's it! This layout was to represent how much I love to read, and the types of books that were in my bookcase before I moved! Now, I have another bookcase that I will take pictures of, this one still has my craft books...a few other self help books, and now a bunch of school books! Maybe right now your books consist of nothing but childrens books, great...do a layout on that! Later on things will change, I promise you!
I thank you for visiting this blog, and welcome you to pass it on! I will be visiting a few of my favorite blogs and getting a few guest designers coming up! Make sure you go to the links for my articles on Ezine Articles, easy tips for creating your own style of things!
